So are big clubs only measured on their histories Page Moss? You post about your history which is indeed impressive but what about now? Are you feared as you once were and is your football all that good now? Have you won a treble recently to match the Liverpool sides of old? The old Roker Park used to hold about the same as WHL when packed to capacity but Sunderland haven't been anywhere near as successful as Spurs in trophies. It's not as well known abroad either. If Spurs isn't a big club then I don't know what is. What's the ground capacity at Anfield anyway?

i think if you class chelsea as a big club then you had better class Liverpool as a big club.

    lets put our tints away.

if we could not recall on our history as Spurs fans then we would be in alot of bother because we havent won anything of note for 21 years.

and i dont class chelsea a big club ahead of Liverpool.

Liverpool have got more of everything and more prestige in their left bollock than Chelsea.

just because you see alot of youngsters nowadays with Chelsea tops on and they have won the PL does not mean that everything else should be forgotten.

Liverpool as a club are underachievers, much like ourselves.

P.S if spurs were in the Blue Square league then 2 things would happen

1...i would still think for me they are the best thing since sliced bread.
2..we would tell everyone about our history.

alot of people love getting 4th or 3rd or 2nd.......give me a trophy anyday.

im a fan..i want a trophy..a day out at Wembley....im not going to tell my grandkids that we finished 4th...then 4th again etc..i mean its a sad predicament when the 'one up' of Arsenal over us is that they always qualify for the CL...so what? is that why they played their strongest 11 in the Carling final last year because they sniffed a trophy? still lost mind.

If i was on the corporate bandwagon then id be happy to qualify for 4th...fill the pockets of the fat cats and players...carry on paying excessive prices for tickets..then go home and say yaay we finished 4th...same next year lads.

    give me a trophy anytime!

Chelsea much like City are just a fashion statement for the youngsters..Liverpool is a real football club..love em or hate them..just like we still in 2012 pride ourselves on being the first team to win the double etc etc....then when other teams started to do it we started to break the point down further by saying it was harder back then etc etc.

cmon lads..i know we have some battles with the Liverpool bunch but lets be honest...its an objective debate but when you talk English football you mention Liverpool just like we mention United,Spurs,Arsenal......not ****ing City anyway...yet they are everyones big boys nowadays...fuk knows why.

I thought this was about Spurs and Sunderland? Anyway, to repeat from the evidence I have presented I think Spurs are bigger than Sunderland.

If we're going wider, then Liverpool are wayyyy bigger than Spurs, it's not even close.

Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal are the three biggest clubs in the country, in that order too.

Chelsea might be bigger than Spurs now, but it's very much a 'recently bought' position and the fact that each time we play them in a final at Wembley we have a far greater demand for tickets than them, gives a clue as to our respective fanbases. City, not as big as Spurs yet, but like Chelsea may be seen by some/many to be bigger soon.

To me Spurs are between 4th/8th in terms of big clubs, as Villa and Everton are in with a shout too.

It just depends on the critieria you're using, but I think 5/6th biggest is where I'd place Spurs.

Japanese tourists wearing replica shirts at Anfield? I suppose those replica policemen's helmets they buy from novelty shops in London mean they're actually policemen? They are tourists, it's part of the package. See the lakes, watch fading giant play at home..etc etc and of course they buy the shirt; They're on holiday.

But you are right. Liverpool are bigger than Spurs. But guess what? You are nowhere near as big as you used to be.

Apparently DM , haven't read all of the thread, life's too short, but this one got hijacked for sure.

Anyway, amidst all the tribal fighting, I hope the OP saw my stats and they helped him in his argument.
