Put up a picture, I may be able to sort out her plumbing? Apologies for that. Electrics actually is pretty much the only thing I don't do in my own home, terrified that if I make a mistake it'll burn my house down in the middle of the night.
Served my time as a spark but been off the tools for a long long time now. If she wants graft then no if she wants advice maybe. (For a consultancy fee obviously)
If nobody is qualified nobody is qualified. We're just as useless as you in this case Bill. Joking aside, give it a bit of time and keep bumping it Bill if you can, people don't look in as frequently as they did. The club is killing the board atm.
My house needs rewiring completely. Got a sparky lives next door but he’s never home longer than a weekend and he’s told me that it needs doing. he’s going to get me details of someone trustworthy to rewire the house. If he does then I’ll let you know billy
Well basically her husband fitted a new light fitting to an upstairs room & it blew all the lights. Still power to the rest of the house, just the lights. I changed all her sockets & switches a couple of years ago & some of her wiring is still red & black. That went out years ago, it's all brown & blue now.
I worked at NASA for 10 years as a electrical engineer on the space station, and with Steven hawkins on his fundamental physics therom, and at the Hadron collider in Austria (that massive underground scientific thing underground, where i would not like to pay the electric bill either) but i am frigged if i will touch anything in houses. I am pissed again by the way lads.
That's the problem. With education education education.... Its resulted in a lack of tradesmen I am sure you'll get help off here to help her
I’d have to have a look it sounds like it’s the fuse or I don’t know if it’s rcd protected, the new light that’s been fitted is too powerful for the circuit so that’s why it’s tripping or there’s a nick in the cable somewhere that might be causing a short it needs someone who has test equipment really then they can trace the fault. That’s what he said mate sorry thought he’d be able to sort it.
He has got a switch wire crossed with a neutral. One of the black cables should be on its own with the brown flex. Although its coloured black it is a live cable when switched on.
Hi Billy, I've got a lecky mate who would probably have no problem fixing that, but I presume that your friend lives around the Stanley area, which is blinking miles away from 'Sheels, where he lives. He's retired and does jobs at 'mates rates' for everybugger, but it might be a bit far for him. Am I right in thinking that she lives in this area
