With regards to Anton, it must be something hireditary or passed amongst families. he has loads of talent and ability, but, just like his brother he always make 1 mistake a game and will always give the oppo a chance... i like him and think he could be better with a steady partnership of him and Hil / Gabbidon. The back for get no protection from the likes of JB, SWP and Derry, who to his credit had stepped up his game. Also we gotta understand that the standard of strikers and midfield oppo is so much higher than last year. We aint going to keep 25 clean sheets againt the likes of Liverpool, Manure, Chelski etc...It just aint going to hppen. We have to focus on giving the oppo as few chances as possible and hope we can take ours when they come. "Every team WILL get 2 chances in every game"...its about keeping concentrated for 90 mins to stop those chances going in! As for young, i was/am a fan and he looked good at first but it appears that his form is dropping along with his head. His oppo are massively better than previous, but he seems to be hesitant. I wish MH could give him some sort of confidence boost, as going forward he is a real asset. i hope he sticks around next season where ever we are. I dont think anyone has covered themself in glory this season, but i wish i could say a few more had tried for the cause!!
Problem with playing like that though mate, is, if as a defender you commit yourself and get beat, you end up on your arse and the rest of your team have not had the time to get back and fully reposition themselves in case of a cross...ala...saturday!
Building a new team not easy at all Growing a new team needs time and patience Killing a team give a idiot too much money Most good business if you trace it all back ... They all had luck along the way... Money and Fame makes people believe they are gods
This. Gabbi alongside Hill has got to be a better bet against the Gooners. He gets in far more tackles and interceptions on the ground than Anton, and is quicker I think.
Its better to get beat 5% of the time and block 95% of crosses than to let every single cross go in unchallenged. Same reason goes for a goalie, Id rather have one that comes to collect everything and makes 1 or 2 clangers a season than someone stuck on his line. The latter wont make any mistakes but will cost more goals. Same with Young.
Its hard to be a good defence when your midfield gets by-passed with every opposition attack and offers you no form of protection at all. Scared to death that Arsenal might seriously embarass us on Saturday. I've got so many annoying f*cking 'better than thou' ****y Arsenal fans for mates, I'm just praying we can cause an upset - would seriously love to dish out some winding up to them. Lets hope RVP gets caught smoking a fat one the night before and gets banned, or trips down the stairs in his clogs
You've missed the point here havent you mate, and a s such have shown you never played in a back 4/5...? If you give you team to set up position prior to a cross coming in, the chances are VERY low of them ever scoring a goal...hence the breakaway tactics employed by most top teams now. I totally understand your agrument, but the reasoning was super seeded about 15 years ago with the advent of skillfull AND pacey players playing across a front attacking 4. I'd almost bet my life, that if a defender (not the most skillfull player) commits to a tackle at first chance on a break away, the chances are..Ryan Giggs, Ronaldo, Beckham, Downing, Walcott etc...will skin the defender and create a goal scoring chance.... Flyer, your system used to work with Nobby Styles et al..but has been found out....Now just because your location is 50 years behind the rest of the world (Except Queensland), we HAVE to move on... This is 2012..welcome to the Prem......!!
Yeah me too..I'm going round my Gunners mates house to watch the game...we'll al be pissed..if we go behind i might get the misus to get her kit off just to change the subject !! Sorry ladies !!
He doesnt even have to commit to a tackle just get close enough to block a cross. Hes letting them have a scoring chance every time they get the ball anyway. I can understand standing off Walcott but none of the others you listed have great pace so they should be closed down.
Love the way the thread has developed but do we all agree Anton is the last person to be giving training sessions . Its hilarious, its got to be a joke.
Next great charity ideas, striking lessons with Rob Hulse, anger management lessons with Joey Barton and raising the dead with Mark Hughes...
I think Anton is fair as a player but only by the skin of his teeth I think the others will all grown and are good players Most known where I stand on the Kasper issue ... Probably now looks like the beginning of the end .... He was a rock for us last season
