Sounds like an average saturday night out for me Sorry dont mean to make light of this. It's a difficult one - at least if anti-fascists turn up it's reassuring to know someone in society is there saying "no". Also think as others have said, if the anti-fascists turned up they shouldnt have thrown anything. The trouble is they then get banded together with animal rights and pro life activists, and that's not where they want to be.
Nah, he shat his pants and knew that unlike in other towns and cities that they spew their bile Liverpool people(not anti-fascists)would stand up against them.
Fair enough, though I must say if they have marched through other cities/towns I have never heard of them. Maybe there was nobody there to cause trouble and give them publicity.
They are an international outfit, branches in Russia, Poland, Germany etc. All I can say about it is...as soon as they got permission to march the anti-fascists booked their transport to Liverpool..when the Mayor released to the press a letter he'd received from the Nazis their march was doomed to failure, they threatened violence against people who might be out shopping with their children for example and the locals were determined to stop them carrying out their threats. They got the response they deserved imho.
I heard they denied that letter was from them. Tbh I know they're thick bastrds but they'd have to be supremely thick to do that before a march.
The letter was only denied as being genuine after Mayor Joe Anderson released it to the Liverpool Echo, they probably thought we'd be scared and let them own our city but when it became apparent that wouldn't be the case on the day their solidarity fragmented and a lot of them never had the bottle to get on a train to Lime Street.
So they wrote a letter to the city to scare people but when it was released they denied it, sounds legit
You're assuming the Numbskull that penned the letter knew it would be outed to the press, the threats in the letter weren't just against the city and the people in town on the day, there was personal threats against the Mayor. Anderson showed by releasing the letter he's not scared of them and put the city on alert, fair play to the feller.
You're also assuming that the letter really did come from the organisers of the march. If there is any proof of who it came from and is as threatening as you say why was he not picked up by the police at the march?
The police obviously took the threat seriously, there was literally hundreds at Lime Street on Saturday, they only have around 100 at Anfield even when we play Man U so that in itself shows how seriously they took the threat.
Fair comment triff, but I personally took the threat seriously and can only speak for myself, like I said earlier in the thread, wherever Nazis/fascists march there will be an anti-fascists counter rally, the people I was with and those I spoke to were local people that were worried the threats would be carried out.
Lets be honest if you are scared a group are going to cause trouble how is protesting, shouting abuse and throwing things at them going to help?
Let's also be honest and say that if extremists are allowed to make threats and to cause unrest and be unopposed wherever they like we'll be living in a bloodbath of a country before we even know it. I can and do only speak for myself and if you or anyone else objects that's your right to do so triff, but I doubt very much we'd have that freedom if we ever see fascists/Nazis get too much power. anyway triff I'm off to get my head down mate.
I'm not differentiating Diego, I had nothing to do with either side before, during or after Saturday, I was only their as an individual, whether you agree or disagree with that it makes no difference to me.
I have no time for either "gang", I just find it galling when one side claims to be anti something then goes on to behave in a manor that depicts that something perfectly.
