Some but all of the anti-fascists were determined to get stuck into the Nazis and give them a hiding, but on the plus side there were locals from the Black, Asian, Anglo, Irish and Chinese communities in opposition which was a good thing.

    Unity Is Strength.

In opposition to who, the demonstrators or the ones wanting to get "stuck in". Who did the police feel the need to protect?

The anti-fascists never threatened to torch Liverpool and threaten violence against its citizens, so guess who the locals were in opposition to?

It doesn't matter which city or town the fascists/nazis hold their marches and rally's because the anti-fascists movement will also be there, like I've already said, I wasn't involved in any violence and neither were any of the other locals, unless you class giving them verbals as violent.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Only Theresa May has the authority to ban marches in the England and Wales, Joe Anderson asked her to ban it but she let it go ahead, and according to the Echo they're planning another one in Liverpool.

Utter madness - how the hell can it be anything other than inciting hatred in cities like London and Liverpool? It's not as though they're trying to hide the purpose behind their little outings <steam>.

They would actually garner more support in areas with fewer ethnic minorities, but then again as somebody pointed out its not like we are talking about members of MENSA.

That is the mentality of them. They don't seem to understand that without them turning up at marches like this there would be no violence, the police always end up having to protect marchers from violent thugs calling themselves anti-fascist <doh>

Soz Diego but you're very wrong mate, if there were no protesters to form an opposition to the Nazis they'd cause **** with innocent bystanders because their sole reason for existing is to cause trouble.

Otherwise they'd use the ballot box to do their talking on race issues within the UK, we have Orange Lodge and Irish republican marches here every year and there's rarely any trouble.

They all do it, pick a cause and then totally ignore (or never understand) what it stands for.
Look at the pro-life groups (anti abortion) blowing up clinics and killing doctors and nurses, pro-life my arse <doh>

On the other hand if you dont give them any oxygen their protests run out of steam (mixed metaphors!)

There was an EDL march in birmingham the other day. 150 of them turned up and nobody gave a 5hit. Complete non-event.

I dont mind counter marches tbh but I can see Diego's point also.

Do you seriously think 30 people (who had declared their march to the police and so would be monitored) would try to start trouble in a crowded city where they have little support? They depend on idiots turning up to get them publicity.

Google the group that planned to march in Liverpool Trebs, you'll see they're far more right wing than the EDL and you'll see that they threatened the city and its people, they were advised by their leader to wear masks and to wear thick leather belts with heavy belt buckles which was obviously to hit people who disagreed with them being here.

Do you seriously believe only 30 people are members of their group?, the ones that needed police protection were the early arrivals flouting their shaved heads and air wear boots, their leader(the cowardly bastard)heard what had happened and cancelled the march even before he got here.

So he cancelled it to avoid conflict, sounds reasonable to me.
