Pilkington is one of the few real quality attacking Players in league 1. If he's over the nasty injury he''ll be class.
Think that we are going to do a Blackpool, defenders not a high priority. If we end up with 39 points we'll get a second season nine seasons out of ten.
Here's an interesting take on Pilksgate, from a terrier's point of view. http://www.fanhouse.co.uk/2011/07/0...ilkington-is-only-the-latest-to-show-they-me/
I think Lambert's just targeted the biggest issues from last season, that is, lack of width, pace, and options up front. I'd like another center-back in, but otherwise I think we're fairly sound at the back.
Sky Sports News reported the story this morning. They said a fee had been agreed and that Sky sources reported it to be Norwich.
This seems rather likely, seeing as he's staying in Dunston Hall atm! (I work behind the bar there and he had room service this evening xD)
With Pilkington and Bennet we have 2 very nifty wingers..................As Beefy said Screams of a Lambo type player, young talented, English and hard working.....2 or 3 defenders in and we should be set now..
We have to name a 25 man (of players over the age of 21) squad at the end of August. We already have 28, Pilkington makes 29 and 3 new defenders make 32. As has been pointed out in the Smith/Aberdeen saga all our players are now on Premiership contracts and as they are also under contract we cannot force them to move to another club for lower wages. Equally we are not Man City and cannot afford to pay players to just turn up for training and then sit in the stand nor can we afford to pay large percentages of wages of players sent out on loan. Are you convinced that we will be able to sell or loan out on acceptable terms 7 players especially as a considerable number of our fringe players were bought when we were in Div 1. Which 7 do you think will appeal enough to other clubs to match their current contracts?
We will probably release a few for free enabling Cody, Johnson etc to get descent wages as there will be no transfer fee. IMO
I would be really disappointed if we let Cody go for free...but yes I think a couple of players may have to go for free, or as good as free.
He should be ready for the Championship in about a year which should work out well for you...good signing well done.
At least we are looking to sign players for the future! Chopra, has been, injury prone & lost his hunger, & Lee Bowyer! wow ! real one for the future there! Be lucky if he keeps out of jail for the season. Go away & get ready to watch Derby, Blackpool blah blah blah ! We are looking forward to Man u, Man city etc etc etc !
You've changed your tune Chipstick..........."Must be pleased with Chopra ? In fairness i was more than a little surprised he picked Town. If there's any legs in this Bowyer speculation, i think he may well be good at championship level, all you've got to do is keep him out of court!" I think you said something along those lines. Go away and contradict yourself some more. Blub blub blub blub blub.
Chipstick the trouble is you might have players for the future but you haven't signed players that will keep you in the premiership. None of your squad has any real premiership experience so basically your fecked! I will laugh my bollocks off every week watching your lot getting tonked.
Hello Binners, hows it all going ? Havent seen much of you guys, as none seem to have gone on to 12 yards. Hows your close season shaping up? Are you all happy with the signins you've got in? Must be pleased with Chopra ? In fairness i was more than a little surprised he picked Town. If there's any legs in this Bowyer speculation, i think he may well be good at championship level, all you've got to do is keep him out of court! Anyway enjoy next season, we will & hope we all meet up in the prem soon. The exact words you posted on our forum Chipstick! I think you have been hoisted by your own petard!
