We await Bruce's hero's welcome back to SJP in the unlucky event he gets an away cup tie against us with some lower league club dumb enough to employ him.

Burn has being doing well, but he's clearly nowhere near the level of Botman. In terms of our recent defences, outside of Schar and Botman, Schar and Fernandez was the best, Schar and Burn is not as good as that either. I don't think Kelly is any good btw and don't want him in the team.

I say again, doesn't it say a huge amount that we had the best defence in the league with Botman in defence and it's been way worse ever since he was injured?

And I'm not interested in any anti-Barnes stuff.

Kelly's just another Targett muck-up. Hugely overpaid and we're now lumbered with him for the entire duration of his contract. I say again, who's making these decisions? It's crazy, we never learn.

Watched an interview with Longstaff, said we had two top class players - Isak and Botman. Hard to disagree that his injury has impacted us - however, Howe playing him through that injury and causing more damage is another conversation entirely. He's doing the same with Isak, injection in his broken toe, seems like madness to me.

Wasn't anti-Barnes, was anti-transfer "policy".

Bruno, he's the most replaceable, plus he runs like he's towing a caravan through treacle.

The problem with Bruno is he's in the wrong position. When we had a more pressing style, he was further up the pitch even as our CDM. Now we're doing a different style, the CDM has to be able to defend first, then create, not the other way around as he's too easy to press. If you don't have a destroyer in a 4-3-3, you run the risk of being too slow in build-up, or too deep and isolating your forward too much. We're constantly guilty of the latter two.

I know some disagree, but for what we have I'd want to see either Willock or Gordon as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1, or Joelinton (maybe even Longstaff) as a CDM in a 4-3-3. With the former, I think it makes us more threatening. With the latter, I think it allows Tonali/Bruno to both be slightly higher up with protection. Positionally they can adapt.
