I mean I don’t quite get how a five star break in Germany with pitchside seats and a five minute cameo suddenly makes him crap. Kane looked dead on his feet in Germany, plays every match, is considerably older yet has started this season well again.

Hes just signed a new contract so again its a bit puzzling, as the “head turned” excuse doesn’t wash.

It's all very simple.

If the fans like a manager they blame everything else including the weather and length of grass.

If the fans don't like a manager they blame everything including the weather and the length of grass on the manager.

I have literally no idea how that’s relevant, did you reply to the wrong message?!

Is Gordon not as good as we thought, or is it a blip and either way why is he struggling much more?

It's managerial imo....playing a different way and trying to accommodate Barnes.

I'm not buying into this tired being on the bench in Germany notion.

Actually I wonder if a lot of the travails of our team are down to the recruitment? Nobody can tell me that constantly buying nobody, or adding a few low-rent subs, is going to make players like Isak and Gordon sparkle? But is there cause for optimism in Gordon signing a deal where we might be saying "look, this year's windows have been a disaster thanks to PSR/PL - but the shackles can come off a lot more from January so stick with it". You'd imagine something like that is happening, right?

The squad we have now is better than the squad that finished 4th. The simple fact is Botman's been missing since then and we haven't replaced him, we had the best defence in the league with him and it was bad without him.

It's not a huge recruitment problem, just a one massive **** up with pinning all our hopes on Guehi and not getting him.

Yeah, but you blame the current manager for everything, hence proving your own point earlier that fans can be blindsided based on whether they like the manager or not. Without realising it, with every post you are proving your own theory around stereotypes. You are one of those blinkered fans who just happens to dislike Howe.

Crediting Bruce has nowt to do with it. You most likely did that to stir up **** when most fans were on his back.

Really interesting you should suggest that. We are 9th, not in Europe and that's down to one player? I strongly disagree. Which result would Botman alone have stopped from happening? I was under the impression the concensus of opinion was Burn was doing well - to the point where the manager has offered a new contract taking him to 34 years of age at this club. If Burn's a problem, then why is Lloyd Kelly, a LCB on over £100k pw, not playing regularly?

I think there's been a constant theme of poor recruitment for 18 months, and I cannot fathom why. Barnes, as the best example, was the least needed player I've ever seen us purchase! Our transfer activity has been almost exclusively focused on teams going down, or Burnley/Bournemouth. Which two clubs did Howe manage before us?!

For the topic of Gordon, the problem he has is the same one that eventually hamstrung Almiron; it's utterly one dimensional. Try and get him the ball one on one with a full back, cut in, score. Like the previous favourite attack method of Almiron to Bruno to Almiron, cut in, score, it's been worked out. This is ELITE football, these 'tricks' don't work. We don't seem to be playing to Gordon's strengths any longer and because there's no additional threat near him on the field, it's easy to defend. Genuinely believe if we had a CAM offering themselves in the middle, it just helps shift the opponents mindset. As we play now, there's a huge gap 'between the lines' meaning opponents just need to pick up our RW, LW and CF, leaves one defender spare and their midfield just sits in knowing we don't have the ability or even player in the middle to cause problems.

I think the Barnes/Gordon nonsense doesn't help.

The inability to have our best players on the pitch has been a problem for ages, it's either issues with injuries or the way we play. We seem to sign players irrespective of what we actually need and more so what's available and who Howe already likes.

Burn has being doing well, but he's clearly nowhere near the level of Botman. In terms of our recent defences, outside of Schar and Botman, Schar and Fernandez was the best, Schar and Burn is not as good as that either. I don't think Kelly is any good btw and don't want him in the team.

I say again, doesn't it say a huge amount that we had the best defence in the league with Botman in defence and it's been way worse ever since he was injured?

And I'm not interested in any anti-Barnes stuff.
