Am I the only one in the opinion that there's a good chance he wouldn't actually get a game unless on the bench? We have the best defence in the championship and now we're talking about bringing someone in to strengthen the back four or let's be honest be a first choice because thats what AG would want here. Ridiculous; we've got the best defensive championship record. We need a defender that's proven at Premier League/Championship level but who might be getting on a bit; doesn't have a club and might not cost much. See who's out there at the end of the season!
Good thinking Batman, A Gerrard was good but we have got as good now if not better, a good old one would jump a the chance for a while.
Up front is the priority for new signings I reckon, and Gerrard won't like warming the bench for us, Hobbs and Chester are our two centre-backs for the future, hopefully for a few seasons to come also.
Gerrard doesn't seem to know anything about a move... Ant Gerrard ‏ @antgerrard86 I know nothin about these rumours!! Most probably some mess sittin in front of his computer in his skids and vest!! Talking POO!! Haha
Liam Cooper not ready for NPC football - needed to cement his place in a Lg1 side and couldn't do that either Carlisle or Huddesfield. AG by comparison is a proper defender at this level. AG would add to what we already have for another hard 46 game Championship season should we not get promoted.
I hope we don't lose Chester, this core of Man U kids we have could see us back into the Prem League next year if not this, am hoping he will be give us another season at least
Cooper - like others from the youngsters that were blooded during the premiership years - hasn't come like we would have hoped. On the other hand Sonny Bradley has been getting rave reviews at Aldershot and may have jumped Cooper in the pecking order.
I'd have no concerns about dropping Cooper into the first team, I think he's underestimated, I don't remember him ever looking out of place in a game.
While I was quite surprised to see us pass up the opportunity to sign a goal scorer in the transfer window, it is clear barmby has faith in what we have. I saw today that Doncaster signed piquionne for the season, who is a large, goalscoring target man. Having said that, Fryatt is looking sharp and if we can get Stewart and Brady back to their best, there won't be a problem. I mean with Manonne in goal, why don't we just play for draws in the playoffs and go up on penalties
Piquionne is about 5ft 10 and of pretty slight build. I was surprised by how small and frail he looked when we played West Ham earlier in the season as I too thought he was a big man before I saw him live.
i'd rather win a trophy and a medal for myself than for the club i support - if i didnt play for them . Theres no way he wanted Liverpool to win that game
