Another weekend upon us and this time a more positive vibe in the air after beating the bar codes in midweek. However there is a story going round that Bielsa will be signing for another season as soon as we have secured safety. That would be fantastic news as far as I'm concerned and really hope its true. If however it isn't we will get into the 'who will be manager' routine as we know Bielsa, Radz, Orta have already agreed a shortlist. many Leeds fans believe that Carlos Corberan should be on that list.

Carlos Corberan 37yo
Like Bielsa he packed in playing football very early (23yo) to take up coaching.
In 2011 he took over as fitness coach at Villereal first team.
In 2012 he was made manager of a top team in Saudi Arabia and was recommended for the job by Pep.
In 2013 after finishing top 6 he was given the managers job at another top Saudi club.2017 saw him managing Doxa in the Cypriot league and whilst doing well was offered the job at Leeds to look after the U23s.
In 2018 Bielsa arrived and insisted that Corberan joined his coaching team as assistant first team manager as well as the U23s.
1n the 2018/19 season the U23s won the PDL North league and went on to win the National title too.
After the season was curtailed because of Covid it transpired that Corberan was wanted by Huddersfield to take over as manager. Bielsa agreed to let him go, and he was also offered the position of Head Coach in the Spanish league at Cultural Leonase, but preferred the Dogs job.

Bielsa really likes him and he has been called a genius by certain members of the Leeds academy. However he seems to be having a mixed season round at the dogs, so comparing him to Bielsa is silly as Bielsa would have already had the dogs challenging for top 6. His average win ratio is only 33% which isnt outstanding, but its early days.

has Carlos Corberan done enough to be the man to take over when the time comes?

Unfortunately Coberan is not ready Doc.

The added problem is that when Bielsa leaves, then so will his assistants. Part of the reason Bielsa has been successful is because he brought his team of trusted lieutenants with him and could then hit the ground running.

Coberan would probably need at least another decade to build up that level of support around him.

Replacing Bielsa is the single most important decision this club will make in the near future.

The £100 million we spent last summer and possibly again next summer will mean that if we get the next manager wrong then we could end up back in League one quite quickly.

It's really something that does not concern me.
Sñr Bielsa is not someone who is going to retire to look after an allotment, his mind needs much more stimulation.
Did he not sign last year really late because it was not on his list of priorities?
If and when he leaves I will be grateful for what he has done for this club and it’s fans.

Totally agree he doesn't look a pipe and slippers guy,his mind needs constant input that won't come from the reader's digest! He seems to be more settled here than he's ever been anywhere on his European journey...think we will get at least another season,and hopefully his input to the next guy to take over will have been noted by radz and co.....and what would costa coffee do if he goes

I agree with this, but simply because I dont believe he will ever be as good as Bielsa. He has failed so far to stabilise the dogs, never mind improve them. And Bielsa when given his furst coaching role inherited the local kids team, he ended up smashing all records. He was then given the Academy teams and again made them unbeatable, hence the reason he could take over the whole club within a couple of seasons. I see no real resemblance bebsides bith speaking Spanish
 
This week saw Radz interviews about the 49ers and in there he mentioned that speaking to Bielsa will take place within weeks. I believe that as soon as we are safe safe in the Prem Bielsa will sign a new deal. However Radz added that when the time comes to replace Bielsa it will be Radz who will manage that process based upon a strict model? I suspect that means the blueprint is made and designed by Bielsa and the next person is on a list given to Radz by Bielsa?
 
Jammy said something about Corberan not being ready as no experience. Funny how some thing Steve Gerard is ready though?

Not sure how accurate the reports were but I read Radz was keen on Eddie Howe if Bielsa had called it a day this season. My personal choice would have been Poch. I think he will stay another season, after that? The bloke at Norwich perhaps?

My preference would have been to employ Eddie Howe now and to put him in charge of the academy and also assistant to Bielsa. Sort ofHowe learning Bielsaball and being able to incorporate it into his own tactical armoury. Eddie Howe should have been given the England job instead of Southgate, but would love him at Leeds. He can have his break from football limelight and get an education before entering the lions den again.

Always remember Bournemouth in the Championship, they were by far the best footballing team in the league, different class and remember they didnt have any superstars, just decent well coached players. In fact we bought one when they won promotion, and they knew how to pick a striker
 
Just found out that Elland is ill again, anyone else think he’s the Diego Llorente of the 606 board <laugh>
 
Bielsa is possibly on the spectrum, his life is football, no short cuts are ever taken, he is methodical beyond belief and he is not interested in the money or living the dream, football is his life.

If an average to half decent player buys into what Bielsa is about and they give it 100% for the man they’ll do well. We have a small group of players that have this attitude and it’s why we got promoted. We didn’t get promoted because we had the most skilful players but we did have the best team.

Very few of our players would walk into another PL team as individually they’re not the best. This is why we need Bielsa to remain at this moment in time and when he decides to call it a day we won’t get the next Bielsa as there isn’t one.

Yes the likes of Klopp and Pep are great but they don’t need to be as committed because they can go out and blow £50m plus on a player to slot in next to the other 8-9 players valued at a similar price.

Although he probably won’t replace Revie I’d say Bielsa will forever be a legend of a coach to Leeds fans because of what he achieved with a group of players that we never thought was good enough. Add to this the man himself, a loveable guy who is humble and approachable... I feel sorry for whoever takes his place because unless they win the title they’ll never fill his boots.

Sorry I did get a message from Eire yesterday that Elland is in hospital with a chest infection can someone do the Friday Breakfast debate but I was one foot out the door as I was reading it.

I'll have to agree and disagree with you on Eddie Howe Doc.

Whilst I love his brand of football he managed a decent squad of footballers at Bournemouth to relegation. They should have easily survived last season but the fact they didn't was ultimately his responsibility....he therefore falls into the too risky category.

Hopefully we've learn't our lesson and when the time comes go for the best available worldwide and not the latest up and coming prospect.
