Do you think that Holt is more important to todays team than Huckerby was to the team he played in?

Which single player has been most important to the team of the time? I can't think of too many others. Iwan was a pretty important part of his team. Dion maybe too?

It was a rented house and I moved out to go travelling. If that house had been available when I got back and bought my own place I would have been tempted.

I don't think there is a bigger legend than Hucks. From day one we worshipped him and he thought the world of us fans and the club as a whole. He now classes us as 'his club' and is a fan now just like us, read the last paragraph of his autobiography if you haven't already. The way he was treated by Rodent was a fecking disgrace and the fact that he bears no real grudge shows you what kind of a man he is. Rodent shipped him out for the simple reason he didn't like the fact he was held in such high esteem and wanted to be seen as No.1 (fat chance) IMHO. Hucks even signed for San Jose in the MLS despite having several offers from English clubs because he said that he could never play against us. What a guy, total respect <ok>

I agree, but I was thinking of the importance a player has on the dresing room morale. The player that lifts everyone merely by being there. Hucks certainly had that but as much as Holt now?

I dont know the answer by the way. :)

Up until this season I would have said it would have been a close call, but all that crap in the summer with Holt has got to have had an effect. It's no coincidence that he's struggling to find his form this year if you ask me, as I've said before Holty will not get into double figures this year IMO and I wouldn't be surprised to see him dropped to the bench if he fails to have an impact tomorrow or against Liverpool. And as I've also said before, I'll post a thread on here and eat humble pie if I'm wrong and I'd be more than happy to do that <ok>

I'm not so sure. Every season so far Holt has had doubters at this stage. He never gets going until about November. In L1 he was good but not great until October/November. Then I remember people wondering whether he could cut it at Champ level, again it was Oct/Nov before he really got going. This time last year he wasn't even getting in the side. Morison was keeping him out.

He'll come good. He always does.

In the wasted years in the mid sixties there was a giant at the club and I would put him as the real morale officer of NCFC as he is still on the books as the clubs greeter for match day sponsors. Terry Allcock.
He was a class inside forward in his day. He holds the club season highest goalscorer still. But as he got older he was put back as a central defender and he literally held that defence together with his great reading of the game. And he was made captain and his leadership rubbed of on some of the other lads and we started to turn the club around again.
