I'm sure someone said there was an interview with Fryatt in the HDM on Saturday (as well as the Monday piece) where he seemed to be complaining about the formation/tactics. Burnsy was probably just trying to drag more out of that so that Blunderside could claim it as an exclusive.
Matty Fryatt did allude to not likeing to play the lone striker on RH on Saturday. Again tonight Burnsie tried to tease it out of NB that Fryatt had no service and Nick dismiised this to say that everyone has a role to play in the formation. It is clear Nick wants to play with a lone striker and won't alter his thinking on this - makes you wonder if both Matty Fryatt and Aaron Mclean will be elsewhere next season.
Burnsie definitely has a bee in his bonnet about something being up with Fryatt. Before the game tonight he was talking about that interview and described it as "Fryatt almost broke ranks" and then they were telling everyone how they could listen to the interview again on Iplayer.
i didnt believe any of this the other night, after last night it makes you wonder.. barmby demanded a reaction after saturday, and it appears they just took the piss out of him. and as the game got worse and worse, and you look across to him to be into the players firing them up, giving direction etc, he stood there unmoved, arms folded, with the look of a man who knew he would be wasting his breath if he said anything.
Why after last night, what was different to normal? Other than pass to Koren we've had no answer to going behind at any point in the season, and we didn't win from behind in the whole of last season. Why should a team of players who've been playing twice a week for a month with virtually no rotation available suddenly be able to do anything differently to the previous (nearly) 2 years? I don't know about at away games, but at home games I haven't seen Barmby doing much to change anything during a game since he took over, most of the time even the subs are like for like ones. I'm now going to partly contradict myself because he did at least say something, but against Ipswich from half-time onwards they were the better team. We got the 2nd goal against the run of play and Barmby gave a few players a bollocking while it was being celebrated. Nothing changed, they remained the better team but he didn't make a change until 10 minutes to go when King replaced Stewart. (McLean having come on at half-time for Brady due to his injury)
Don't want to get you wrong Ric,so i have to ask,do you think the team(or some of them) don't want to play for Barmby ?
because last prior to last night was the 1st time barmby had stressed he was unhappy and expected a reaction.. the portsmouth manager revelaed afterwards he had said the same after there coventry match, and thats exactly what they got, they fought and battled obviously with there mangers words ringing in there ears. it was nothing to do with going behind, we where awful from the 1st minute of the game, 2nd to every ball, if thats how they play after an apparent dressing down from the manager, then something isnt right, nobody looked interested also one of the 1st things i noticed about barmby in his 1st game v derby was he was one of those jack in the box managers, never able to stand still, constantly kicking and heading every ball, constantly offering words and encouragement from the sidelines.. last 2 or 3 games he has barely moved, all in all it appears something has changed in the last few weeks
So at the beginning of Barmby's reign when Fryatt looked disinterested and was missing one-on-ones every game he was undroppable, yet now he's playing a lot better and running his bollocks off despite less service Barmby is almost blaming him!
Remember back in the day when I used to say Barmby's a bit of a **** and the rest of the players probably hate him? I genuinely believe this to be the case, just have a read of Garcia's twitter, is that a man who supports the manager? If you're not getting respect from a top pro like him then who the hell are you going to get it from?
He just sounds quite exasperated at not being in the team and you get the impression he feels he hasn't been told why he isn't being considered. Every second tweet is replying to someone asking why he isn't in the team and each time he says he doesn't know why and seems quite fed up.
@RichGarcia19 Really wish you were playing tonight! Think Nick needs to watch some of the goals you scored in the promotion season! @kathryn17buble hahaha.... I'm sure he saw them he was probably playing.......hahaha @RichGarcia19 Think he needs a reminder then he will play you and you can do it again! Hope you get a chance soon, missed seeing you play @kathryn17buble thanks..... I miss playing.... ------------------------------------------------------------------ @RichGarcia19 have you travelled to Portsmouth ? @hullcity_pfa no I haven't @RichGarcia19 a lot of fans hoping to see you back soon mate @hullcity_pfa doesn't look like I will be chosen to be in the team or squad any time soon.... ------------------------------------------------------------------ My unreliable source tells me Garcia still talks to a "former player", that may or may not have something to do with it. That could easily be bollocks though.
cheers, must admit i am very surprised he hasnt been on the bench in march, a lot of our attackers are very young and inexperienced....garc has a promotion under his belt and is a different type of winger to king/brady/stewart, not as quick with the feet, but quicker upstairs....would mix it up a bit
