Could be a ground to air missile, but looks most likely that someone smuggled a bomb on board. At Cairo you could understand (but not excuse). But Paris...?

Possibility of 66 dead. Dreadful

Can't see a bomb getting on board when it comes from Paris. The security there is tight as. Reckon it could be just a sad disaster. We will have to wait.

It is not going to help the Egyptian tourist industry much and boy do they need it.
Just as a straw poll, has anyone on here either been to Egypt or planning to go since the Russian jet was shot down? Or, alternatively, has anyone cancelled plans to go there?

Never been & don't intend to especially what's been going on, the likes of sham el sheik, turkey & Tunisia will be hit bad with holiday makers not going,
Terrible disaster the plane going down & hope it was that & not terrorist.

My sister went there in late 80's early 90's to do the pyramids and was spat on by women. This happened a few times. She said she would never return and hasn't. She now spends her money going to other destinations and trust me she spends.

You're probably right about the bomb. Sudden swerves have been detected in the plane's last minutes which might, I suppose, suggest a 9/11 type hijacker or a rogue member of the plane staff

That is atrocious!
However, we had the opposite experience. Went to Sharm couple of times but stayed in large resort. Staff immensely grateful for relatively small tips and gave reasonable service back.
Of course if we stop going, the economy dives and that breeds more disaffected young men with a grudge which is cleverly turned into an anti-West thing by the like of Daesh.
Basically, we stop going and they win - but I am not volunteering!!
