If this isn’t the biggest “**** you Newcastle fans” then I’ll be damned! You can’t tell me that this has not been strategically timed the day after the transfer window shuts with us finishing £20m in profit. https://news.sky.com/story/mike-ashleys-sports-direct-buys-house-of-fraser-for-90m-11468296 What an utter ****ing ****bag this bloke is!!
I don't particularly like the man. I don't like the way he runs his businesses with zero hours contracts and the like but I'm not offended for the clubs sake that he has bought house of Fraser. The club finishing £20M in profit and his other business ventures are unrelated. There is no chance he doesn't have enough money to fund Newcastle AND buy house of Fraser. He's a lying twat, but he hasn't took transfer fees to buy house of fraser
Exactly this - nowt to do with the club but to say he doesn't have money to invest when he can go and spunk 90m on a shop thats going under is pure nonsense. It does make me think if he had long term ambition to stay here we wouldn't be making Net profits on the transfer window and could potentially throw £10-20m at a transfer or two.
Perhaps it's a case of keep the cash back, try to sell the club in the meantime and if still in charge in January with relegation looming then spend the cash.
He already owned 12% of the business in any case. What matters is a substantial number of peoples livlihoods are secured for now. Smallminded and bitter to link with NUFC.
I wasn’t suggesting he was using the profits to buy H-O-F, that’s obviously nonsense. Was just merely pointing out the timing of it which may be out of anybody’s control due to the administrators etc. He’s clearly got money he’s happy to invest, it just baffles me and numerous other people as to why he fails to see that investing in one of his other businesses (NUFC) could be just as rewarding and lucrative. Hopefully it just means he’s about to **** off, but I won’t hold my breath!
I Expect to see house of Frazer advertised around the ground and also pitch side adverts Free advertising for a failing business what better way to keep it in the public eye being beamed out across the country
H.O.F. - established retailer, that's had a rough time over the past few years, not much potential for development and sell on. This really isn't an Ashley style signing at all.
£130m TV money plus 50,000 fans every home game. Player profits most transfer windows. It's profits all the way. Where does he spend these funds? I'm stuck for £100m football related spend. What else can it be?
This all day long. He may be a **** to us fans but he’s a big employer to many folk on the minimum wage.
The minimum wage is a joke, Labour brought it in and promptly allowed Employers to legally screw anyone under the age of 25. As for Zero Hours, that's a bigger joke again, people complain about the likes of SD, and in the next breath, shop online with Amazon, the ultimate sweatbox and exponent of Zero Hours, but that's OK,. Out of sight out of mind - hypocrites.
