How desperate are the powers that be for France Ladies to beat Nigeria? Went to VAR. Yes it was a pen but no malice or intention to foul. Despite that defender gets second yellow and sent off. French player misses the goal completely. VAR again, keeper, who didn't touch the ball strayed a centimetre in front of the line. Pen retaken, scored and keeper yellow carded. If it weren't for the fact that the players and officials are female I would have sworn it was us v Chelsea or Fulham again. Absolute travesty and lack of common sense.
Poor monkeys not got BBC? Ladies World Cup? England v Japan, defence v attack and England grab 2 to win. Scotland 3.0 up v Argentina, pulled back to 3.3 with a retaken pen due to VAR. Scotland eliminated in bits. I was cynical but now being converted - especially as no blokes footie on. Give it a try Masky. Better than no footie at all. Wimbledon starting soon as an alternative.
Saw Scotland 3-0 up, flicked over to the England game for 10 mins a few chances for Japan and then England's 2nd. Commentator said the Scotland game was 3-2 so changed back to see the debacle at the end. Probably was a penalty, but very picky for the retake. 2nd penalty was crap as well, but went in. The 5 mins extra time was wasted for the penalty, so there should have been another 5. When the ref blew for full time it took the panel 30 seconds before they realised the game was over. Farcical. Some entertaining games though.
Incredible!!! Nigerian defender went for and miskicked ball. Her foot bounced off the ball and shinned the German attacker. VAR - penalty. WTF. She played the frigging ball face on, not from the side or behind. What is this game coming to? Nanny FIFA. Apparently a similar one was given for France so they had to be consistent. Two wrongs don't make a right. What is this man's game coming to? ....... What am I watching? Oh yes.
Yes actually. Meeting him and 2 other City ST holders at Coach in Bridgend then on to Ashoka for nosh. That is nosh not noshing off. Topics of the night to be whatever rumours of City signings we may have, prospects for next season and the f'ing awful officiating at the Ladies World Cup, clearly biased in favour of the "big" teams. Also a running phenomenon when following lady runners, knickers or no knickers. At a recent running event one young lady let it slip that she preferred no knickers. Chaffing ooooo.
BT very excited at the thought of no knickers. Anyone in Bridgend area who can drop some tissues in to the Ashoka? He doesn't get out much.
A Saturday evening in. Some good viewing. Australia vs France in the U20 rugby world cup. Good game. Another few months for the real stuff.
Wow, all kicking off in England v Cameroon. England given disputed back pass free kick for first goal. Looked right decision. For England's second, first of all disallowed for offside. VAR correctly showed scorer onside. Another player 10 yards away was offside but not interfering in any way. Cameroon went bat **** and protested for 5 minutes. To cap it all Cameroon scored what looked like a good goal to me at start second half. VAR disallowed it. England now 3 up with an uncontentious goal.
Switched in stoppage time and saw the controversy over the second. Marginal at best for the Cameroon offside. Not clear and obvious. Does seem some inconsistency in the decision making. VAR should be a good thing, but it is not working well here.
Looks like they've employed a bunch of our Members of Parliament to make VAR decisions and succeed in getting many wrong. Perhaps we have a Brexit VAR?
VAR means games last as long as Brexit. Perhaps the Cameroon manager should have come out and asked for an extension.
