As long as they were available when the window closed. The question is whether Bullard will still be a registered Hull City player on September 1st.

A player can only be signed if he was a free agent during the transfer window, if Jimmy doesn't have his registration released in the next two weeks, he can't play anywhere this season.

Don't think that is entirely true.

Disregard that. If he's released passed Aug 31st then he won't be available until January./

He could indeed sign for someone during the next window in January, I hadn't thought that one through.

He's got to be a free agent during the transfer window otherwise he can't sign for someone untill the next window.

This is nothing to do with football legal history. It is all about employment law. The Keegan case is a very good example of what could happen. Newcastle were shown to be saying one thing in public and the opposite in private. Most likely Bullard wont want a lot of what he did getting out.

Why would he only have 5 days to appeal? That seems ridiculously short.

I stand corrected. It seems a totally barmy rule - bit like the general transfer window rule!

Sacking John Hartson wasn't in West Hams interest. Sacking Fergie wasn't in Man United's interest. Keeping them was against the rules, it's not a case of JB being victimised, it's more the fact that Hull aren't willing to let him off like the other people as it interested the clubs to keep them.

El Hadji Diouf could have been sacked loads of times due to his behaviour, but the fact he's worth a few million to Bolton/Blackburn/Liverpool etc means they're not going to just let him clear off.

OH COME ON NOW. this has been on the cards since bullard was suspended and is NO SURPRISE AT ALL. Been predicted. Just glad that the club have said something official at last. Hope JB puts in an appeal. Would love to hear his side of it. But For everyones sake Jimmy, give it up and just go. DQPR need you more than Hull City do. Only the Hull boozers will miss you here. Good riddence.

DONT SEE AN APPEAL REALLY. I MEAN ON WHAT BASIS WOULD ANY APPEAL TAKE ?
Surely JB knows he is on a loser and any court case would cost him alot of money.
The ALLAMS know what they are doing. Bye Bye Jimmy.

Sacking appeals are 14 days i think maybe 28. Either way if he does appeal then City will hold his registration.
Only if and when he becomes a free agent can anyone sign him regardless of the window being open or shut.
THERE IS NO RESTRICTIONS AS TO WHEN YOU CAN SIGN ANY FREE AGENT PLAYER.

If i were the Allams i would only release his registration if Bullard signs an agreement of NO APPEAL to the termination.

What utter rubbish. I bet you would be hard pressed to find anyone saying anything against NP on that count.
As for Bullard being a scapegoat ? thats the best laugh ever. The actions of Barmby and the comments of Stephen Hunt for starters show what Bullard is like. I bet Hull City will have hundreds of people speaking out against Bullard if the need arose.

I'm really wondering where he will go next and on what terms. Surely the cat is out of the bag now - a team would need to be mad to import that sort of disruption. I suppose pay as you play might work, but I can't see JB signing one of those.

Loving the fact that every person in this thread is suddenly an HR expert.

There is no definitive period as to how long you have to appeal a decision. It's whatever your company has in its rules and regulations. Ours is 7 days

If Bullards registation is held by us after September 1st and then terminated he then cannot claim a free transfer. He has to be without a playing contract when the window closes. I don't know what happens if an NPC club came in wanting to loan his playing contract - I don't know how that would work
