If he hit Pearson and had previously been warned about fighting with Barmby last year then he could be sacked for it surely?

Think the owners must be sure footed to go ahead with this.

Only problem is if Bullard plays his trump card - a character reference from Percy.

I dont think that would be relevant in any breach of contract case. The question is likely be simple: were JB's actions sufficiently serious to amount to gross misconduct entitling the club to dismiss him. What NP did in his playing days will have no bearing.

If what JB is rumoured to have done (threatening NP, being unfit due to drink, taking drugs, whatever) is acceptable practice in the industry then it is unlikely to be considered gross misconduct. I don't believe that any club would consider it acceptable practice.

The club still have to prove JB's indiscretions though

In other walks of life yes. Football no. Did Hartson get sacked for kicking his team mate in the head? Did Fergie get sacked for kicking a boot at Beckham. Read any autobiography of any footballer and there are incidents all the time of drinking and fighting. Bobby Robson had a fight with two of his senior players when first starting out. Look at the John Sitton rant on You tube what other employee would stand for that.If NP has any skeletons in his closet, like all footballers do then he may be used to save Bullard. If the PFA sense JB is being victimised then they could i am sure call the other players for City out on strike.

It's not as if that would make a great deal of difference anyway, our strikers are already on strike, along with most the rest of the team if our start and Tuesday night is anything to go by <laugh>

I notice from their website that Simon Dent and Co are based in Shepherd's Bush. Should we read anything into that?

No-one attempted, or wanted to sack Hartson, Fergusuon, or Robson. Totally irrelevant.

Just because we don't like him, doesn't mean he's now ****. He should have been playing in the prem all along and probably for a top half side.

If the board are prepared to sack him outright and risk an appeal, then they must have be certain of the grounds for it. I shudder to think what he's actually done, but it's about time players got a reminder that they can be dismissed. Could the era of the unsackable footballer be coming to an end? I do hope so.

JB his highly unlikely to appeal the decision - all that could achieve would be to reverse the decision to sack him. The appeal would be considered by the hierarchy at the club so it wouldn't succeed anyway

If a player is without a club they can be taken on anytime.
