Ruby Walsh has raised the possibility of Annie Power running at Aintree and at Punchestown this spring..... More

Completely agree Beefy, last seasons Aintree Hurdle form was piss poor. Rock On Ruby was well beat in that race even when he was the reigning Champion Hurdler, by Oscar Whiskey and Thousand Stars, so the fact an ageing Rock On Ruby ran The New One so close last year highlights how poor the form of the race was.

Even though The New One is better over 2m4, I don't think Aintree suits a slow stayer like him. I think Annie would show him a clean pair of heels.

The fall she had looked a nasty one, but she didn't have a tough race prior to it, so aslong as she isn't mentally scarred i think she will be the one to beat:biggrin:

Come on Annie. One of my favs. I can't explain the feeling when she fell; I thought we had lost her.

Me too Ron, it looked a bad one, they tend to look worse over the hurdles. It would have put a real dampener on the whole festival had her fall been fatal. Thankfully she got up ok, and lives to fight another day.

I know she fluffed her lines at Cheltenham, but ability wise she is the best mare I have seen for along time:biggrin:

That Quevega wasn't too bad not so long back KS <laugh>

Feathard Lady was a fave of mine.

She was a cracking mare who's career was cut short by injury after winning the 2005 Christmas Hurdle, in only her 6th race btw - who knows what she could have achieved?

I agree Drever, both of those mares where pretty good aswell. I just feel Annie has more ability than both. It's ashame she wasn't trained by someone else as she would of had a great chance in a Champion Hurdle. She always had to much pace for 3 miles

Annie would make the Aintree race really intriguing- as would Faugheen. Both proper top class hurdlers with pace and the ability to stay.

Any chance of Jezki showing up or will he remain in Ireland for the 2m race?

Who is likely to have a tilt from the UK side? The New One- anyone else? Rock On Ruby?

If Jezki where mine I'd run him at Aintree instead of Punchestown. As he has no chance with Faugheen who'll go Punchestown I reckon.

Annie could run in the 3 miler instead of the 2m4 so that race could be a good opportunity for Jezki, if his competition is TNO and ROR

Might they think about dropping Zarkandar back in trip? Previous winner of the race and likes Aintree. I think this trip suits him better than 3 miles.

I agree Oddy but I think Nicholls has said he will go for the stayers hurdle a Aintree.

Zarkandar's been soundly thrashed twice by Annie, there's no way Nicholls will head back for a third meeting. Zarkandar looks to have plenty in his favour in the 3m race, it looks a no brainer to me where he runs.

As for Jezki, yeah you'd think the trip up would suit him. The 2014 Champion Hurdle certainly wasn't the race many of us thought it would be from a form point of view. Mullins must be kicking himself Fly lost his form in the back end of last season. In head to heads it's what Fly 6 Jezki 2 now? Must admit I'd a been getting you locked up if you'd a told me after Punchestown last season Fly would beat Jezki the next 4 times they met!
