I thought he worked hard against Man U and did loads of tracking back. He is just very weak once there, too easy to skin and brush aside. I could see him working in a diamond but we don't have two strikers who really work as a front pair (unless you count Shola as a starting option?). I just think he needs freedom and people to do his work because otherwise he gets exposed to situations which expose parts of his game which are not good enough in defensive areas.

To me its not a criticism as such, more just I think you have to use him correctly. Ben Arfa is similar but gets away with it more because he is taller and bulkier. Benni is taller/stronger than people realise.

Brum or Villa a season or two or three ago. Ended up getting a police escort to the ground. Said it before but the police in that area are red hot on getting you to the game and often give you an escort onto the Motorway after the game.

By all accounts, a nasty little foul on him - not shown on the highlights and not acted upon by the Ref.

    Typical of Moan U!

I can somewhat relate to Marveaux.

I am a left-footed player like him, also have relatively greater ball skills than peers. I used to be like Marveaux, an attacking player who had no ability to play in a physical game or against physical players. Eventually after my junior college years, I learnt how to play physical. It's really not about how big you are , it's about the mental part of yourself and your willingness to put your body on opponents really. I'm nowhere near as tall or big as the rest of the players, but I can play aggressively now. I think Marveaux with decent coaching will get it, but give him some time.

And of course don't expect me to be anywhere near EPL standard.

Pretty sure I read a stat that Hatem is the lightest player in the squad - lighter than shane ferguson!!

That would be patently untrue for me. There is at least a stone and a half between them unless Fergie has been on some serious weight gain! Marveaux will be a stone lighter too. Benni will be taller than both by an inch or 2.

And regardless its not just weight, its strength and height too because of you use your frame. Benni is a strong lad.

Not sure of their weights but Benni does ride strong tackles quite well, De Jong's scissor the fatal exception. Respective weights I'm not sure of, but I think Marv is a similar height, while Fergie, Anita and Bigi are absolute midgets. No wonder the long ball game didn't bloody work!

Is it wrong that I suddenly have an unbelievable amount of faith in Obertan now? I think he could come good, purely because I thought he was brilliant in his last two appearances... He's good from set-pieces as well because he's tall... Stop not606, I think I'm developing another man-crush!

Looks a lot better on the left.

I've checked out respective weights and heights, no real surprises for me here except maybe Fergies height!

    Ben Arfa 5ft 10in 75.7kg (11st 9 pounds)
    S Ferguson 5ft 9.5in (?) 65.1kg (10st 3 pounds)
    Marveaux 5ft 7.5in 65.9kg (10st 9 pounds)
    Bigi 5ft 8in 68.1kg (10st 7 pounds)

Significant difference with Benni from the shorties in terms of weight, height. Just a stronger lad for me too which you can see when he is put under pressure. Has no trouble standing and receiving regardless how tight they are as he can hold them off.

Obertan is 6ft 1.5in and 13st 1 pound. To be fair he is not a fatty though as 2 stone of that is the brie in his heed
