Religion can be harmless, for example, we told my 4 year old recently that her grandad had 'gone to heaven', which makes death a lot easier for her to cope with. If it comforts people, and they're not trying to ram it down anybody else's throat, then fine.

Unfortunately, the crazies spoil it for everyone else.

Things were looking pretty bad after a botched operation on my oldest son two Christmases ago, and the missus and I discussed what we would tell his brother if the worst happened. The only solution I could think of was heaven - its extremely difficult to think of what else you can say to a 4 year old. It's no doubt why religion is so seductive - you'd really really like it to be true.

Where is acworth? I haven't seen him around for a couple of days. Has he been disappeared?

Now he's achieved national fame he's going international. He doesn't need us anymore, we were merely stepping stones towards his eventual domination of the entire planet.

Oh aye, it's great for that sort of thing. But it pisses me off when my Born Again Christian mother-in-law tries to indoctrinate the little girl at every opportunity

Yes, I was in a bit of trouble as I had told them that there was no evidence of god after the oldest came home from school spouting creationism. Potential death outing me as a bloody hypocrite <grr>

That sounds like an awful scenario. I hope all is well now, Mick.

Catholicism is where it's at,

Catholicism is a broad term for describing specific traditions in the Christian churches in theology and doctrine, liturgy,

For many the term usually refers to Christians and churches, western and eastern, in full communion with the Holy See, usually known as the Catholic Church or the Roman Catholic Church.[1] However, many others use the term to refer to other churches with historical continuity from the first millennium.
In the sense of indicating historical continuity of faith and practice, the term "Catholicism" is at times employed to mark a contrast to Protestantism, which tends to look solely to the Bible as interpreted on the principles of the 16th-century Protestant Reformation as its ultimate standard.[2] It was thus used by the Oxford Movement.[3]

We live among you, don't be afraid not the 70's anymore<laugh>
