Anyone who labels Di Maria **** would be a fool. But he isn't going to win you the ball a la Keane and isn't going to stop the opposition scoring a la Vidic and Ferdinand. DM and CB should have been sorted by now.
You've found a very credible replacement for Giggs, just need to find replacements for Keane, a Vidic and Ferdinand now. Going forward, Di Marua, Mata, Rooney and RVP are as strong as anything the league has, the critical problem is behind them.
I think vidal woyld have come but we are wary of his knee. I suspect we want to see him play so will wait on that happening. Our back up/original choice was strootman. Hes brilliant and almost certain to come to us next season. He covers dm and is probably the best true dm around. Right now with strootman likely and vidal not happening (as it stands) i would be very happy if we sign blind or de jong. A stop gap.

Ah but herrera was the best at getting the ball back in la liga last season. Irs one of his strengths amd why herrera considers himself a dm by trade.
De Jong would be a good signing as he would instantly add that steel and aggression to the midfield, not to mention he has played in the PL already.

Rojo is a replacement for both rio and vidic. From what i have read hesngot vidic aggression with rios coolness on the ball. Still need another cb and a cm.
His favoured role is dm. His best position is as a number 8. He excelled as a number ten last season (doesnt score many as plays as a creative number ten rather than a goalscoring one).

Blind and a midfielder of quality would be the best summer window ever. Add quality, cover and make sides take another look.

I'm surprised that given his versatility Van Gaal didn't sign Blind straight away. He would be like another John O'Shea.
