Got to say onefor, I'm with you on this one. Losing on Tuesday to a goal off a players arse can't be planned for, but it happens when things aren't going that well!! We all know that "winning breeds winning" and vice-versa for losing, but I believe we aren't far away from being a half decent side.

The division is tight (apart from top two!), but, despite our poor recent form, we aren't far from the play-off positions. I don't think we'll get there, but I do think we will establish ourselves this season.

1For - I agree there are fine lines involved.
However, Junior has 2 problems he seems unable to deal with.
He doesn't have a clue who his best 11 or his best set up.
He seems to change just for the sake of change. 1For - wasn't GJ's mantra about keeping a settled side.
Tbf, the back 4 pretty well pick themselves, it's further forward where he hasn't a clue.
I said weeks ago, he's killing Tammy Abraham. Someone should tell Junior the kid is 19 and needs help and protection.
As for not getting hammered - I think you could throw a blanket over most of the Championship. It's the top half dozen or so who might batter us when we visit them.
I know you dislike me saying it but the money we've spent, only 4 clubs spent more on transfers than us, should have pushed us further on than where we are now, or more importantly, where we're heading.
And now he has the Kodija and Bolasie money to spend in January.
Do you trust him to spend wisely ?
    You know my answer.

I seriously doubt that if the transfer revenues are to be reinvested that we have a leader who can spend it wisely, and when you consider the usual going rate in the January window I fear the advantage of some good outgoing transfer money might go straight down the toilet.

The problem if you go by his previous purchases, the majority not getting game time.
Then you have to question his purchases,we are playing very few of his signings on a regular basis.

On Tuesday we had some of Junior's signings on the bench.
    Tomlin, O'Dowda, Brownhill.
On the pitch were Pack, Bryan, Smith and Freeman - none of Junior's signings.
Make of it what you will.

You missed the 0 off the 5. His technique is abysmal and others in the team are not far off. Never looks where he wants the ball to go, head down whack it anywhere, hope for the best. January is going to be a big one for LJ as I think we need a few experienced championship signings. Failure to do this and I fear we could be staring at another relegation dog fight come the end of the season.

For me, Reid has shown that he has not the quality to play in such a responsible and important role for a championship side.
His catalogue of missed opportunities has been a feature of this season, and that is a window onto his true worth.
The guy needs to spend 6 months learning how to finish, how to be a fanatical finisher, how to hit a sixpence in the top corner from 30 yards with little back lift, how to prod the bloody thing in from 2 yards with his arse.
In short, how to play like Tomlin.
I couldn't give a XXXX where he comes from - if he can do those things then he is worth having, and if not then he is not

Whether Junior will be proved correct is another matter but good on him for praising Bobby Reid.

One of the best managers in the world Manchester City's Pep Guardiola is having the same problems RP, it happens.
Maybe he doesn't know his best 11, I'm not sure there is a best 11 nowadays, it's how you use your squad and for what games or the type of teams you play against.
I really don't think he's a million miles away and although you won't like this, he may need a few additions come January to generate a balance.
Under GJ in the championship, we did get the odd tonking and our goal difference was dire, although exciting it was far from consistent and probably led to the poor season we had after.
I think the club, with LJ are trying to build slowly but surely and with a bit of time I believe they will succeed, but I do admit, we do need to get a few results in the bag to keep away from a relegation dog fight, otherwise all plans will go out the window!

I dont think we are to far away myself- We have lost most of our games by the odd goal rather than a tonking and with a bit more luck, better finishing or defending, the odd goal might have been in our favour- To be honest, that was happening at the start of the season, we were the beneficiaries of some late goals that teams couldn't recover from and an unknown 18 year old with an eye for goal who's finishing is normally deadly.

Must admit, its great to see some intelligent and thoughtful debate on this site again at last-Shame it has to be about our poor form though. There has been a lot of off topic stuff and competitions which doesn't interest me much and to be honest, I was very close to giving up on this site completely.

Living in Devon it does keep me closer informed about whats going on than you might think as I dont get the Evening Post and their web site is one to be avoided as we know. Our local sport is more about Exeter Chiefs, Yeovil, Exeter and Plymouth. I do appreciate being part of this group.

The top 6 this season is most probably Newcastle BHA : Leeds Derby : Villa then perm 1 from Hudds, Reading, Sheff, Birm,
we will now struggle to finish in top 10... around the halfway stage the final 6 is usually in top 8 or 9 and relegation teams in bottom 6 -7....
