• 18 players recruited on his watch, over three transfer windows. Only 3 have been successful - May (who Holden insisted Sandgaard sign), Small, and possibly Lloyd Jones. The other 16 have been somewhere between average & diabolical. I’d have zero confidence that Scott would improve his abysmal strike rate over the summer,
• Sold Holden down the river,
• Handpicked Appleton as his replacement, a decision that almost resulted in our relegation (undeniable)
• Allowed our skipper and rare decent player Dobson to leave for nothing due to an ego driven petulant spat with him - GD still wants to stay, even now
• Repeated spouting of utter bollocks, including “the era of mediocrity at the club is over” after he bolted Holden.
• At any other club, a senior Exec walks with a track record of failure like Scott’s.

Forest supporters are not keen on him after a similar disasterous recruitment period.

On the positive side, Nathan Jones has demonstrated with Thierry Small that he has a good eye for a player. It’s good news that the club had offered him a new deal.

I find it hard to believe that Nathan Jones would have agreed to join us without 100% autonomy over player recruitment.

He’s not going to be willing to take player advice from the guy who signed Bonne, Fiorini & Tedic, etc.

I’m really encouraged that Nathan has said we won’t be using loans next season.

it all started to go pear shaped for the club when Pardew became obsessed with loan players, and we have never shaken off that addiction since.

A couple of loans (at most) should be a luxury once you have bottomed out your actual playing squad - it should not be the basis of your recruitment plan.

Bakinson, Watson, Tedic, Camara, Ladapo, Fiorini etc - none of them wanted to be here, and it was obvious that Nathan didn’t rate them.

This nonsense about “waiting for PL kid loans” will now hopefully stop.

But for every gem there has been at least 20 duds. And even good loanees are no foundation to build long term success on.

I'm really pleased to hear we won't be using them again under Jones.

You are right, our loans ratio success in recent years has been dire.

Cullen & Gallagher (& Bielik) were from high profile Premier League clubs, but even that is no guarantee of success. Remember Dylan Levitt “the best passer at Man Utd” ….theres also a strong suspicion that Man City just hoover up every half promising youngster because they can afford to …look at our loans from them …Matt Smith, Fiorini …Tedic. Never Man City players in a million years.

Rak-Sakyi also needs to be added to the plus side. It is possible to improve the team considerably with the right loan.

I think the manager is a very important cog in who we can attract.

Other clubs are more likely to lend us a good ‘un if you have a Lee Bowyer in charge rather than a Ben Garner.

I’m sure NJ will be seen in the former category, so personally I’d like to see him bring in a couple of top quality loans. I don’t think we’ll get promoted without that, because he just won’t be given the budget he needs to buy all the players necessary, outright.

Scott did exactly the same at Nottingham Forest, signing over 30 players in a short period of time. His theory seems to be that if one in five comes off, he will be hailed as some sort of transfer genius.

I wouldn't be surprised if the bean counters at the EFL want to take a look at our books some time soon.

48 players in a season.
Even allowing for academy and freebies, it'd be a miracle if we haven't broken some rules.

I don't want to see us use more than 30 players next season.

Doesn’t look at if Scott was as the POTY dinner last night, which is odd considering he signed most of the crap players in attendance.

Typically cynical PR Comms from Methven to get Scott to announce the Thierry Small update - it makes it seem as though AS remains important to the operation, when in reality a major post mortem of our shocking season should see both Scott & Methven kicked out this week.
