Mo Farah didn't sing GSTQ and no one said anything about that. GSTQ is a terrible dirge. A national anthem should be about the people of the country, not someone who is on the throne as an accident of birth.
listen to everyone getting all upset about the line "rebellious scots to crush" when our own "anthem" talks about sending the english home
Just sing the ****ing song you Scott ****s and get on with it All this bollocks about not wanting to sing OUR national anthem and join in with the brits in the footy is ****ing stupid. Typical of you miserable ****s though
That verse isn't in GSTQ anymore. I don't like GSTQ personally, but to say that it is somehow offensive to Scots is ridiculous.
Also it's bollocks that Blatter was going to force a full GB football team, all it meant is the young Welsh players got an experience the Scots and Northern Irishmen will never get, shame.
I didn't say it was offensive. I said it was a dirge. The only problem I have with it is it's just a verse of ****e praising a woman who lives a life of luxury simply as an accident of birth. To me a national anthem should be about praising the people of the country and their endeavours, not about being reigned about by some bint.
You do realise that there were Scottish players willing to play for Team GB but weren't picked? Of course you don't because you're an ignorant ****. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18653453 ps Maybe we would have won it if he had.
You do realise they were forbidden from playing by their own FA and most probably would have been frozen out of the Scotland set up were they picked? Of course you don't because you're an ignorant ****.
"The Scottish Football Association, along with their Northern Irish and Welsh counterparts, have taken no direct involvement with Team GB and have made it clear they do not want their players involved for fear of risking their countries' separate identities in world football." If you honestly don't think that was a factor you're an idiot.
Nice try but you've made a **** of yourself and no amount of backtracking is going to change that fact.
Anyway, back to the anthem. It's ****, but actually so are most of them. **** knows how the French got such a good tune though. bastards.
Forbidden and blocked aren't the same thing. I maybe worded it awkwardly but the sentiment still stands that the players were told not to participate, and I have almost no doubt they will have been told behind the scenes that there would have been repercussions had they played.
The players were NEVER told not to participate. Besides Fletcher and Bannan, Old Firm players (some now ex) such as Allan McGregor, Scott Brown and James Forrest were also willing to pull on a GB shirt. If you honestly think Craig Levein would have dropped these players because they played in the Olympics you are severely deluding yourself.
Players being willing to play =/= not being told not to play. I think you seriously underestimate the idiocy of Craig Levein.
