Yes I know how the seedings work thanks This current England team is **** though and living off past glory. England are never the 6th best team in the world and well you know it so there's no way England should be a top seed every single year. If you came up against a decent team then you wouldn't be qualifying I mean look at your current campaign. Montenegro, Switzerland and a few other diddies thrown in for good measure and you're making a **** of it. Throw in a team like Spain or Portugal into that group and England are ****ed
Quite honestly the only reason England do qualify for major tournaments is because they are seeded with absolutely no justification whatsoever. IF they get a tough team in qualifying (i.e Croatia or Switzerland) they monumentally **** up on a grandiose scale because they are not actually that good. The only reason some of the players look decent in the EPL is becuase they are carried by skilful foreign players. Put the England players all together in a team and they have not got a scoobies. Just look at the last World Cup. Absolutely woeful and probably the highlight was managing to scrape a draw against the USA. I'm not slagging the English players off. They are just not as good as the media make them out to be which is why they end up with egg on their faces time after time after time. Scotland dispelled of notions of grandeur when we messed up in Argentina in 1978 with what was a fantstically talented squad. Since then most of us do not get our hopes up in the slightest. England and it's fans surely by now have learned the same lesson. If not then they are in for further disappointment upon disappointment. England will not flourish until they get rid of the prima donnas in the team (the ones who do not want to work as a team) and stop flooding their domestic game with foreigners.
By "half decent" I assume you mean one of the top few teams. You'd have to go back to 2002 when we were in a group with Germany. Remember that? We won the group. We also beat Germany 5-1 in Germany. Remember that?
We have been in groups with Italy and Germany and still qualified. So ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Also you say we **** up if in a group with Croatia or Switzerland? Last time round we were in a group with Croatia and we spanked them 9-2 overall and qualified, didnt we? Also we are in a group with the Swiss now and we are top of the group remember?? The last time we were in a qualifying group with Italy (1998), we won the group. Remember that? To put France, Italy and England all in one group seems kind of unlikely.
I don't think England are the 6th best team but who are ahead? I'd say: Spain Brazil Germany Holland Italy Argentina Uruguay Portugal That makes us 9th, oh the shame...
Let's face it, for a country with a comparable population to Germany and France, your record at major tournaments is ****ing shocking. How many world cups and euro championships have they won between them? And considering you call the EPL the greatest, bestest league in the world ever makes the situation even more ridiculous.

Talking of shocking: up until the last world cup, Spain had never been further than the quarter-finals. For some reason neither they nor us perform well on the big stage.
