Queens is the first Grass tourny of the season, it has always attracted the big names. Nadal was there and Djokovic only missed out owing to injury. Becker, Sampras, Nadal and Roddick have all won it and then done well at Wimbledon and it is considered an excellent place to send a message, at least 6 people have won it and Wimbledon in the same year though. His tennis yesterday against one of the modern games most consistent performers was fantastic. Winning any tournament has to be good for morale going into a massive tournament like Wimbledon. Tsonga will be a different challenge today though, he has more facets to his play than Roddick, but Murray has won their last 3 meetings.

Not true (except for players who are good enough to reach the second week of Roland Garros).

Fair point, Imperial. I was meaning for the top players as a response to the point made that Murray should be resting like the other big names.

I wasn't suggesting a total rest, but when you've got that many top players there and Tsonga makes the final against Murray by beating another Brit in the semis you have to wonder if a few of them are only playing at 80-90% just to get their eye back in on grass without over exertng themselves.

My son has just taken up tennis.I think it's a load of ****.

As for Murray, he's a complete bell end.

That's about all I have to say on the matter.

If a job as Tennis Sports Writer for the Daily Fail comes up I see you as a natural.
You have the same interest in Tennis as the local hacks have for Hull City.

...And Murray wins!!!!!

Didn't really deserve it. Error-strewn game, with Tsonga calling the shots for most of the first two sets.

There was a nice Cantona-esque moment (not sure whether it would have been televised) where Tsonga started talking about chasing after chickens.

(Paraphrase) If you chase after a chicken then the chicken will run away. If you chase after me I will bite back like a lion. Really quite bizarre. I found it quite disrespectful that about two thirds of the crowd left before the doubles (which was much more entertaining so more fool them).
