Akcj if that wasn't awful it would be interesting to see what you think is? One of the most mistimed 2 footed lunges I've ever seen
Isn't any two-footed lung these days a sending off? regardless of whether its 'timed' or not, its so hard to keep up with every way to get sent off these days, its ridiculous
Josh, referees have been instructed to protect players by sending off players who commit challenges that endanger the safety of others. Whether contact is made or not is irrelevant as the Laws of the Game provide that attempts to foul are themselves fouls. Most fans, commentators, players and managers do not seem to be aware of this.
Yea I thought that was the case to be honest, which is probably why a lot of lets say 'questionable' sending offs this season have happened. I do not at all agree with that rule but it has helped leeds out this season I must say
Questionable because as fans we tend to listen to commentators who are ignorant of the Laws of the Game. Which rule (sic) do you not agree with and why?
Its not the rules i disagree with, its the application. Like the 'excessive force' rule is fine in principal. But then different referees will interpret tackles in different ways
Logi, what is the basis for your opinion? They have hundreds of games of experience and days of training at the highest level that form their opinions? They have to make decisions in seconds, at high pace; theirs and the players. Studies show they get the vast majority of all decisions right. Expecting more is unrealistic. Unless you want American sports-style tv officiating systems and trust me, you don't want games of 90 minutes taking 3 hours to be played.
Eh? I just want people to be able to make a proper tackle like they used to be able to. Are you a ref or something? getting abit touchy!. Nowadays you see loads of perfectly good tackles ending up with red cards. Nothing to do with needing tv replays or whatever, its just too strict reffing
Fair play but I think most people want to see the skilled players doing their thing rather than the hackers snuffing them out. I think the referees mostly get it right, not perfect but more pefect than anyone else in their games, that's for sure.
How was it mistimed? Misjudged, yes. I still say that if McKenna walked away with the ball he'd have been the one to walk. It was a 50/50 in which Danns' commitment won him the ball.
We've had the exact same happen this season at home to Brighton. Wellens was fouled and the ball rolled to Peltier who finished. The ref blew his whistle and pulled play back. Luckily we ended up winning 1-0, but this was at 0-0 when it happened.
It was a dangerous tackle. 2 footed and no longer in control of himself. That's not commitment it's stupidity as there's only ever two outcomes from that. Either the player gets a broken leg and the tackler gets sent off, or the player is lucky not to be injured and the tackler gets sent off. And as I've posted on the other forums, I agress McKenna could just as easily have got one, he was off the ground at one point making the challenge so he had no control either.
Alot of people want to see tough tackling as much as skillful play. Just take Leeds v West ham the other week. There was a louder reaction to Robinson and Browns crunching tackles than any bit of skill other than the goals. Besides timing a slide tackle properly and taking the ball and the man after is skillful!
