Yea i know what you mean, he does get offside a lot, especially when he doesnt need to. if he was making a run through fair enough but he gets caught offside when standing still .. Yea i play sunday league too n if i was to be caught offisde a lot i would get subbed, seeing as im a CM, but still in sunday league your mates shout a lot of abuse at you if you do somthing wrong which makes you sort yourself out.

I thought that. You'd understand it if he was making runs, not being picked out and then being caught offside when a balls played late, but he's not. He's just lurking offside and not even gaining an advantage from it as he runs back for the ball. Worked a charm against Stoke mind...

    Interesting point

This is circa the amount we're looking to pay, maybe bit less - £10m, ignoring the past feelings for him. Would you want him or another £10m that Carr could find??

Best but he frustrated the **** out of me today.

He works his socks off a lot but he's so lazy more than half the time , how many times was he caught offside? Sometimes he looks drugged and extremely sleepy.

Well he always looks like that but acts like it sometimes.

This. I was getting stupidly frustrated by Saylor's long balls. The one time he played a proper pass led to the first goal, and then he went back to hoofing it.

Andy Carroll is a way better player than Best in all areas.
But as it has been said above, never would I want Carroll back.

We wouldn't start playing total hoofball on the basis of having Andy Carroll in the side. He'd relish the service on the ground from Cabaye and Obertan getting ahead of the last man and popping balls into the box.

Obviously Carroll any day of the week as a player.

Best as a person? :emoticon-0115-inlov I do like him, even though he always annoyingly strays offside!

Haha this! It was the same against Wigan as well. Maybe he is getting too comfortable in the starting XI?

I'm sure Pardew will sort him out if his form keeps dropping though :)

I'd take Best all day. Sometimes he's ****ing irritating when he strays offside like Strola but he brings a lot to the game when he's not scoring. He can hold the ball and he's got a lot more pace and technique than Carroll ... Just last week at Stoke he was involved in all 3 goals and even created the first, with a clever flick on.

To OP: You should've created a poll :)

Carroll is better, but I prefer Best as he is not a dickhead and plays for us. Wouldn't want Carroll back!
