I was fairly indifferent about Bournemouth's promotion (save as a football fan who is a sucker for a good rags to riches story). Probably because I no longer live down South, I hadn't followed their season as avidly as many Saints fans, so while I was mildly pleased for them, it was story that largely passed me by until I realised that Andrew Surman was there now.

I'm not sure how others feel, but this lad must be the classic "wrong place wrong time". He clearly didn't want to go, but had to as administration bit, and unlike fellow reluctant departure Nathan Dyer, can hardly be said to have had much of a career since - Wolves being a particular nemesis.

Sentimental sod that I am, I'll take a moment to wish him well, and hope he gets a chance for a place in the sun with the Cherries. Trust others will join me.

Always rated Surman and yes I'm sure he never really wanted to leave Saints. Glad things have worked out for him.

Lambo - he is my son's first hero. He was heartbroken when he went.

I actually posted in the Football league thread the other night when the cherries were playing, that I though Surman looked very good. Most good Bournemouth moves involved him somewhere, somehow. I'll be interested to see how he plays in the Premier League, because based on the other night, I wouldn't mind him back.

I certainly wish him well.

Always rated him and felt sad that he had to go. So glad for him that he's made the Premier League. Think he'll do well - as long as he's given a chance!

Always liked Surman a lot. Bit like Jack Cork for me, loved seeing him play for Saints and was sad that it didnt work out.

A large part of the reason why I've been following AFCB is because of Andrew Surman. I just wanted to make sure he was doing OK, because of the reasons in which he was transferred out of SFC. He has been a nearly man since and he hasn't deserved it. I think he would have been a perfectly good part of the Saints squad, that rose from League One to the Premier, had he been able to stay. And I think he would have been a better player for it. I very much hope his career path stops at Bournemouth, because unlike Norwich, I think Eddie Howe will play him in the PL.
