When i saw Wisdom play in the next gen series and the reserves i thought then that he was really good Now he's getting 1st team games and has continued the way he was last season. He has the hunger to get even better and i really do think he has it in him to become dare i say it world class The lad has his feet firmly on the ground and is willing to work for his place CLASS ACT
Unfortunately I'm not on drugs. Kelly is decent at running quickly and his final ball isn't that great. In addition, this system isn't designed for the full back to whip balls. Which is why I believe Wisdom is more suited as he can link up intelligently as he is technically and tactically capable.
To be fair, this current bunch are in the 18-20 bracket, with the exception of Sterling who has been in the older bracket for a few years now. The ones down are the 16-18 bracket so it could be 2 or it could be 4 years until they're ready to even challenge the first team, which is a long time - we didn't even have the likes of Sterling or Suso 4 years ago. Players like Jack Dunn, Jordan Lussey, O'Hanlon and Jordon Ibe are all talented footballers in their respective positions but they're not good enough for the first team yet, and possibly may not be in a few years time. We've got talented young players in pretty much every position on the pitch but they're not all going to push their way in one season. Those particular players will need a few years more experience and some loan time, I feel.
If we want to compare it to barca look how many players they had come through who made it and then those who did not. Early on they deemed Fabregas and Pique not good enough, only to bring them back years later. Gio Dos Santos was in the same vein as Messi when they were coming up and they took completely different directions. Pacheco was a scoring machine and now, well barely gets a game. Bojan Krkic I think broke all of Messis records in the youth team and he was also deemed not good enough while the likes of Cuenca, Tello, Pedro have all come from nowhere and are in the fold. Really hard to judge from that 16-20 age range, a lot of it is faith.
I agree, but like Ze says we have time and won't need the likes of Sinclair and Ibe for a few years anyway.
Indeed, just pointing out that even barca don't send everyone through and make bad judgements on players early on as well. If you watch the youth games with Messi and Gio you really don't see much of a difference, then they made the jump up to the first team and the class just became apparent.
We'll have too many right backs in a year or two, I think McLaughlin has the potential to come through.
Muppet finder would call it the rafa revolution.... i'm guessing there btw... but the only question is would rafa give them as much chances... it has to be said suso is marginal on his performances but in the long term we will benefit hugely. he's the one true two footed player i've seen.
Yeah for sure. I kept a keen eye on this lad last season, he was exceptional. Almost the forgotten one....
Not bad mate, you? What have I missed? Or let me guess - Berb is still being a cock, our board is a wum fest, Swarbs is as factual as the the dictionary, and UIR is winding people up (and they're falling for it).....?
Yeah that about covers it. It is a bit different tbh not as fun, few more serious posters which is fine suppose it is a football forum after all. I've had to stop "pretending" to be a transvestite and say sensible things about footy.
**** sake - I better stick around and get this ****ing show back on the road Anyone for a slap and tickle in the South West area?
It's hard to tell... One of them probably will make the change. Depends on how Wisdom progresses and how well Kelly can recover from his injury... and indeed if McLaughlin or even Flanagan step up. If Wisdom starts ripping it up at right back he won't change, unless forced to by the form of Kelly etc. And then there's Glen in the mix, but I'm happy for him to stay at left back.
