Palarse have Prem money behind them and 20000 gates, so perhaps can afford to wait for another offer, can Brentford??
I understand that point of view, but by the same measure, all footballers are mercenaries - they want the best for themselves (not necessarily just monetary) and that's justifiable. The best any club can hope for is that the players they get together give their all and act professionally whilst they're there and hopefully leave on their terms, be it for a good fee, or at the end of their contract once they've gotten their use out of them.
Hull are close to signing Shaun Maloney.. http://the72.co.uk/34950/gray-unlikely-to-join-hull-but-maloney-signing-imminent/ Is there still hope.?
It begs the following question.... We are suddenly offering vast (and frankly silly) sums of money trying to chase players, (which is commendable) in order to strengthen and compete at this level. BUT When we're reportedly offering £8m for Andre Gray, surely his salary expectations might be somewhere around £40k - £50k a week when compared to the transfer fee he's supposedly worth ? There are player being bought by Premiership clubs for a quarter of what we offered Brentford for Gray. Other teams in the Championship are picking up loans and cheap bargains....
In some ways I'm quite happy that he's not joining us. That's insane money for someone with zero guarantees of getting 20+ goals this season. If we're going to spend £6-9m on a player, I want someone that can consistently score at this level. Looking over the top scorers, that list is pretty thin, so I wouldn't mind seeing another Kodjia style signing from abroad.
There is a lot of mind games going on here and people playing one another off each other. Someone is getting used and I aren't sure who. Hull City Fan. P.s A Guaranteed striker at this level would be Jordan Rhodes and that will rush you about £12-£15m But Gestede only costs £6million. The transfer marketis wonky.
Gray and Gayle both want Premiership football. They have 10 years in the game, then they live off it for the rest of. Its the economics of being a footballer
Forest chasing Matej Vydra as a loan from Watford... Good player. Would do a job for us and then some !
This is a crazy few weeks in the transfer market. Just makes no sense that we should be trying to sign one player that would cost more than the rest of the squad combined. That would certainly make the ship list.......
i suppose the point is that no one knows if we are trying to sgin one player, this is the only one we've been made aware off. City do llike to keep transfers as quiet as possible
I think enquiring about James Wilson (if only on loan) might be interesting. Even though he loves Man Utd, if he can't get into their match day squad now, when strikers are thin on the ground and the team plays with one up front, then surely he's got to be thinking about moving on and there aren't going to be (m)any Premiership teams willing to give him a starting birth...
Goodbye Mr Gray, we could match Brentfords asking price, but not the agents (fee) and players wages, sad really, but 9million, way over the top in my opinion, i know we need another quality striker, but we also need another experienced defender, and a quality mid-fielder, lets fill those positions first, then look at the striker options later.
The wheels on the bus go round and round onto the next target. Third time lucky hopefully. What worrys me is a trend could start, players deciding we are orbit enough or good enough to want to move too.
Bristol City FC Supporters Page 2 hrs · Andre Gray set to sign for Burnley and is to make his debut for them on Saturday..
Wonder what sort of reception he will get at the Gate for his new club Burnley? What's the odds he scores as well?
