Cotts dismissed the question point blankly when asked about it last night. Interview moved straight on.
Cotts is shrewd if nothing else, he didn't want the topic to be the main focus after the game, and after the Gayle incident. Andre Gray will have seen/read how many chances this side have created already so far this season, if he really backs himself as a good finisher he will move here. He could be a real hit in this team with that kind of supply.
Personally think the deal is cold,he would have signed by now if he was interested in us. prove me wrong city.
If anything it should make them keener to sell. Even after they pay Luton a sell on fee, they are looking in the region of a £5 Million profit on a guy who cost half a mill a year ago, not many clubs and I would guess most certainly not Brentford can ignore that. Most people including their own fans would probably admit that they punched above their weight last season, as we did on our first season back in the Championship a few years back. They can use the money from Gray to replace both him and the defender they lost last week for the rest of the season. The deal is more likely to fail if he is waiting in a bigger club to come in with a bid or better personal terms.
He doesn't want to know us..... http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-city-hoping-sign-andre-9889854
At this rate we'll end up paying stupid money for sub standard players that no-one else wants. Gayle and Gray are both good players. They are not worth the stupid and hugely inflated sums of money we are offering, but at least we're bidding I guess and this seems to be the going rate in this mad division. Let's offer £45m for Jordan Rhodes...
Move on don't want a player that thinks he is bigger or better than the club it self. Don't want him here if he has said he wants to be elsewhere. On too the next one, what concerns me though is a trend is happening,or is third time lucky.
The one thing to remember in all this, is that Cotterill likes to keep things under the radar. So we've probably been knocked back several times in the past 18 months it's just we don't know about it. They said on the radio last night, the championship has less secrets as agents are in with the press and like to talk about deals / potential deals. I bet even last summer we had players lined up, but they didn't get over the line for some reason. It's just none of us knew about any of it.
It's all media rumours. Until an official announcement is made by BCFC or by Brentford we are all guessing. The BBC are now saying that Hull will not match our offer.
Steve Bruce has come out and said that they won't match us, so I guess it's down to whether Gray wants to join. It's a sideways step, for sure, but I can't see why Gray wouldn't want to join us. If there are assurances that we'll continue to spend on the side to make us competitive at this level then Gray might see some potential here.
At anything from £6-9 Million on offer, Brentford will force him out, no way they want to miss out on this cash bonanza, be it to us Hull, W Ham or whoever
You would have thought Palarse would have done the same with Gayle but they haven't, at least not yet. Brentford also have another of their forwards injured currently
