Hmmm - my "other" team is Spurs so their result and Arsenal's did not go down well - as for rugby and now I live in Wales I guess my first team came second and my second team came first - but did they have to do it 30 - 3 :) :(

I must admit I am relieved at the result of the findings, we can live with the authorities being involved with our future transfers! Now all we have to do is get our act together on the pitch and push on and finish the League with a flourish;)

    Great news.

Ban of three years for Baz? What about the lifetime ban and jail sentence for fraud? Crooked ****.

No other team in the country will let that muppet on board now though surely. Especially if they ask us about his credentials. Though if he decided to buy our local rivals perhaps we could keep it mum eh guys?

I wouldn't bet on it - a fool and his money? Just look at what Risedale and Storey have got away with over the years!

What will be interesting will be the cat fight between Baz and the Lettuce boys over the loans etc. - need to keep an eye on that.

All in all a very sensible outcome:

The 'embargo', or rather additional scrutiny on player transfer, is understandable as it has been shown that the club board was capable of being duped and therefore not (in the eyes of the football authorities) able to run their own ship properly.

Given that the authorities have not at any time accused Baz of lining his own pockets, nor seen to have done so, a three year ban is warranted and sufficient... had he been found to be defrauding the game for his own benefit instead of for the clubs' then he would doubtless get a lifetime ban and probably be subject to further legal action. That could be a messy business to say the least.

The Pozzo's themselves opened up this can of worms and they are to be applauded. The adjudication says as much (indirectly) even though some in the FL would like to twist the knife further. We can be assured that our owners are going to comply with the law... they have too much to lose and are far too successful at what they do to even think about considering the highly unlikely possibility of doing otherwise.

    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________

We are in good hands, arguably the best! That the authorities will doubtless seek to curb our dealings with Udinese and Granada it is not so much because we have exploited a loophole (a myopic definition at best) rather than the Pozzo's have put themselves in a position of strength by developing modest clubs to be stronger that the whole through good business practice. It is one in the eye for the 'big' clubs, with all their posturing and 'development deals' with other foreign clubs. The authorities will have to think carefully about how they deal with their perceived problem without falling foul of all manner of trade and employment laws.

Not as if it is our problem that, say, the Glazers have put all their financial footballing eggs into one basket by buying manyoo and plunging the club into millions of £s of debt and desperately seeking Asian deals and support etc rather than turning a decent profit and enjoying modest success through owning three clubs in different countries.

No, the Pozzo's bought us. We are grateful (well, we bloody well ought to be), as the status quo would have seen us tumbling down the leagues before you could say L*t*n Down! Everyone else is just a tad miffed that they didn't think of it first.<monster> That's their problem, not ours.:emoticon-0172-mooni

    That is pleasing news.

This embargo seems strange - we cannot buy but we can if they say its ok.

Sounds like a parent/child type relationship!

I think owners should be the only ones to take the blame for the financial dealings, not as if they are open and honest or even ask fans opinions about what they do.

As far as your players are concerned you took a chance and it worked out ok, plenty have taken a chance with big signings that have not worked thats hard luck on them.

During the Bellamy loan deal I thought it was going to the eu court of appeal the way the fa went about holding a special enquiry...not one other loan signing went to an fa enquiry.

We could have been sporting and turned down his loan...actually we never considered doing that come to think of it we were too excited at getting him.

I would wish you luck in second but third is far too dangerous for us, we have not got the points we need by any means it can change in a few games again.

Even I didn't think that searching the disciplinary commission's determination for the phrase "sexual abuse" would yield a match. Tasteless but true.

For the benefit of those who have chosen not to read French's links, having been found guilty of misconduct, Bassini's main defence against disqualification was as follows:

"The submission made on behalf of Mr Bassini is that the list of “Disqualifying Conditions” is essentially exhaustive, and that, absent any of those conditions, there is no power to disqualify a person from directorship of a club in the League. The disqualifying conditions mostly arise from criminal activity, bankruptcy or a current interest in another football club."

Having read the FL documents again, I know, but it is dark outside now, there are some things that didn't hit home in the first gasp of relief.

This could still cost the club a lot of money. Costs of the hearing and other expenses are to be borne by the defendants at a proportion of 25% for the club and 75% for Baz. However if one party doesn't pay up the other becomes liable to pay it all. I doubt that the club will fail to pay, but can Baz? Three QCs will not have been cheap.

Did Baz change his statement about VGS after they asked for their money back or before? I think it was after they wanted it, but don't know the exact dates.

Why did he want a short personal hearing last week? Did he hope to have some of the reports wording changed assuming that he and the club had previous sight of it?

It would seem that Mr Barrea has walked away without any real investigation into what was his role in all this, yet he was clearly in the whole thing from the start. His behaviour seems dubious to say the least and it would be interesting to see what the law society? would say about his behaviour.

The Red Lion has not been handed over still to Baz suggesting that the club are trying whatever they can to get the money back that is missing. Is there any point in taking the route that VGS have and chasing him through the courts?

When will Frank Smith get an interview with Baz when he explains how badly he has been misunderstood?

What has still not been explained (will it ever be explained?) is what Bas did with the money he borrowed from LNOC against the security of the Danny Graham transfer installment. And did he in fact pay back that money to LNOC ,once he got it from Swansea, or do we (someone? ) still owe it to LNOC.? It does seem that the Club, as a football business, got no benefit from the Danny Graham transfer. That was supposed to be our "survival money"--and Bas was prepared to take it.

I think Bas is going to spend a long time being pursued by lawyers for the Russo's, LNOC, the FL and Watford but I doubt that anyone will get any money out of him. He will declare himself bankrupt again, and get away with it. Doubtless he has put most of what he looted from Watford in some off-shore account--I hope it was in Cyprus.

The consequences for the club look like being mainly financial ones, and should not impact on the football side of things. Whatever happens this season on the field, the finances should be on the mend, with extra t.v. revenue and a higher profile for commercial sponsorship. Just need the Pozzos to hold their nerve....
