You mean with him hardly ever turning up at the club? Employing only his friends on over inflated fees?
Mainly having absolutely nothing in his history to do with the sport or position but sure, he seems to be employing his friends already. Not saying it'll end up a disaster of course, too early for that.
Although there is a similarity in background with Clive, their roles are different. This guy will be running the football club, so he has a clear role compared with Woodward's roaming brief. Less likely to tread on the feet of Mauricio or the Academy staff (we hope).
Peach says keep eyes peeled for an announcement any time now. He is on his way to Southampton and I know that Jim Lucas is back in the office today.
The only part of this that concerns me is his lack of actual business experience (as far as I know). As has been said, Nicola didn't have a football background, and it's certainly not a prerequisite of a chairman to have that (though a passing interest would be something of a positive!) but he sure as hell knew how to run a business effectively...... Let's wait and see.
There is someone of that name who is a general manager of a Basel engineering company...sounds plausible, but may be someone entirely different.
OK, I'll give you some. I will be ecstatic if Saints maintain the vision and momentum since July 2009, but if this appointment and shuffle means that Saints have decided to become an alsoran club, with occasional forays into relegation territory, then they can forget it, as far as I am concerned. I said I'd never follow mediocre again, and I meant it. Hopefully, this just a small adjustment and the charge continues. Controversial enough..?
I am another of the wait and see brigade, if there aren't too many puck-ups, he will keep my backing, not that it is good for much.
It is just the Director thing. Ralph Krueger (Chairman), Hans Hofstetter (a lawyer), and Gareth Rogers (temp CEO) http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/announcement-new-chairman-appointed-1415810.aspx Also KL is staying, looks like she is still keeping her Dads dream alive.
The OS still has the ownership message Ownership Southampton Football Club was purchased by DMWSL 613 Limited on 8 July 2009, the ultimate controlling party was Mr Markus Liebherr by virtue of holding 100% of the allotted share capital. Mr Liebherr died on 11 August 2010 and the ownership of the shareholding of DMWSL 613 Limited passed into probate. Currently the ownership of the shareholding of DMWSL 613 Limited is still in probate. As far as I can see the new parent Company is now called "St Mary's Football Group Limited".
Would be pretty surprising if she didn't, given that Cortese's objection to her involvement was (allegedly) the reason he was dismissed.
The really great thing is that we are remaining in Leihberr hands and the plan remains the same as far as the Academy and first team are concerned. Hopefully we can move the commercial side forward...essential for financial security...time to build on our higher profile.
Only time will tell if that was a good thing or not, without any hard facts one can only speculate what went on, opinions vary.
My main concern with this is that his experience is all in working within the realms of the sporting side of life, rather than running a club per se. The one thing I don't feel comfortable with this guy doing (rightly or wrongly), is getting involved in the sporting side of Southampton FC...... But if that's all he knows......
Ralph Krueger: "What Southampton meant to Markus Liebherr has come alive in Katharina since she inherited the club. Every step has Markus in mind."
This line from Krueger is telling: "We will...create platforms of open communication both inside with staff and outside with our fan base."
