Not quite sure where to begin or what is worth rebutting .... so I'll pick off what I find amusing.

Finishing two points behind Everton, 28 points below Arsenal and 37 points below Man City is not challenging for anything except average in the Prem. The big difference is we're averaging on the way up and Livepool are averaging on the way down. The lower divisions are littered with clubs that were once considered Big, won trophies, challenged, blah, blah, blah. Leeds jumps instantly to mind. Liverpool and all the Big teams, whether real or delusionary, are but one **** show of a season or two either on the field or in the controller's office from becoming a Leeds or a Forest, or a Rangers or a Portsmouth. We all start the season on the same points so don't presume you're going to challenge for anything but staying alive.

As for Liverpool's style .... I'm old enough to remember Ian St. John and Roger Hunt. I've seen Liverpool play for decades and I've had my memory jogged regularly by Fox Soccer running old time video. Never would I ever compare Liverpool's style under any manager with that of Barcelona or Spain over the last five or so years ... Teams that play with a style, dare I presume to say, that we are attempting to emulate and you're new manager, by his own words, aspires to emulate us. So in Roger's mind there is Barca, then there's us, then there's you ... Not my thinking, but that of your manger. How does it feel to be a distant third.

Liverpool are a club to be respected and recognized for past triumphs, but worship ends at the Kop. Last season, this season you were / are average on the field, and that's where it counts. You beat a Championship team in the Carling Cup ... You should have ... would you like a paper hat!

I still don't see the value for Allen in moving to a team attempting to arrest decline, whose manager is attempting to emulate the club he's currently with, who is on record as stating that Allen's current club is superior (my reasonable inference) on the field in style etc. to his. Allen's current club is on the way up! Why leave now. Why leave a club that has nurtured him from the age of 9, and now has the legend in Laudrup from whom he could learn more. What money could he possibly want to redress that value imbalance.

And I don't dislike Liverpool FC. Far from it, I have enjoyed the likes of Toshack, Smith (who can ever forget his demolition of Ardiles), Callaghan, Boersma wearing our colors and the shadow of Shankly's presence at the changing room door as we won promotion to the old Div 1 just over thirty years ago. However, I have come to dislike Rogers. Quite frankly you deserve better.

Ouch ! I think you've just spanked their arses and sent them to bed ( especially Nob in Red )

The problem they seem to have is to think we are bitter.

Why would you feel bitter, about having, imo, a manager with, it appears a wider sphere of influence than theirs have.

Actual playing experience of the top end of football, and doesn't, it seems, need to big himself up and put his team down!

No you can keep Brenda, for as long as you want, ( not long judging by some comments already ).

As for Joe, we'll take your money all day long, it will seem a pity for him to join a team that appears to be on the decline , but that's happened before, we've lost players but they've come back again .

No, do another Carrol with Joe, and enjoy it for the present.

Oh, by the way gob****e and you know who you are, we don't appreciate you shouting your mouth off and telling us what to do think or how to pick out team, Feck off back to your own board!

So young players should join Liverpool to further their careers? Henderson and carrol would disagree! Liverpool is a poisoned chalice that is on the decline. I may be wrong here but isn't the ONLY reason your in Europe next season is because you beat a championship side in the carling cup? Nothing to do with league position.
If you actually manage to dislodge the likes of Chelsea, arsenal, spurs, man city or Manu from their positions then I will be very impressed, but let's be realistic here, the absolute best you can hope for is 6th and quite frankly I would put everton and Newcastle above you at the moment in terms of quality on the pitch. The fact that you are signing and chasing unproven/lower league players would indicate that your manager agrees. You were a very good team once, but those days are long gone. Get used to mid table mediocrity, I can't see you drastically improving anytime soon.
Oh and you should know, I and everyone else has noticed this obvious decline for years, not since brendan left to join you.

    Don't be so dramatic.

We beat them in the final.

To reach the final, you must beat other teams, some of whom are even better than the team you play in the final!

We beat Stoke (I think), Chelsea and Manchester City on the way. Apparently Chelsea are quite a good team, and City are quite useful too!

It's all about getting 4-5-6th this season, none of us think we're getting top four nailed on. We want to challenge for top four, and ultimately finish in a decent position. It's worth noting that we were within touching distance last season until we collapsed in January after the Carling Cup win.

We've all noticed the decline, it's not hard.

I'm sure that sounds nice but I don't think it works that way.

    Oh and Ffsdon'tpassittohim... <laugh>

Dont be naive. I think you're conveniently forgetting that the domestic cup competitions are games to rest main line players and play depth to keep it sharp. Beating a Man City in a cup round, nice job. Beating Man City in the league different proposition, different team, different challenge, real challenge, much bigger kudos.

Don't we all. Let's see what happens. Let's see you string 20 to 30 pass sequences together in a real game, under real pressure, with real points on the line. That's when you'll know BR has got his training to work and you're seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Until then you might end up like Wigan under another one of our ex-managers who thought he was all the answers ... Playing pretty, getting beat, needing a miracle at the end of the season.

Playing the way we do looks easy because we make it look easy. It's not hoof and hope. It's actually really hard work physically and mentally. We've been doing it for seasons now with a core group of players that get it and have the tools to do it, it is still a work in progress. We still have matches where we get it all wrong, don't have the energy necessary, whatever. BR needs Allen cause he's the virus he hopes will infect the rest of your squad - he's trying to short cut what could take seasons. Seasons and patience he, the club and the supporters don't have.

As they say .... Time will tell. This is going to be a very entertaining season.

Of course. City and Chelsea both played full teams, as did we, though. The CC being unimportant to league challengers theory is a myth - most clubs use it as a springboard for the second half of the season. It mattered to Arsenal. City didn't want to lose. Chelsea always targeted it under Mourinho.

I'm not being naive - I'm fully aware of the limitations of winning it, the differences in pressure and proposition. It's well known. Still, if you're in it you want to win it. I'd take another win this season, and I'd take the Europa League too.

I know, it's not doing any good for my heart this, or my vocal cords.

No secret that it'll take a lot of work - I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll see a few good signings by the end of the window that'll change a lot. If we have players who can play the system given time, then I'm happy to give them that time.

Yeh, I think Allen would be crucial for us - the 'Alan key' you might say <laugh>

Maintaining coherence and executing well is going to be key during the transition. Old habits die hard under pressure. It's going to take tons of self discipline and confidence within each player. There will games where it will clck beautifully and games that will be disorganized and ugly - prepare for a roller coaster ride. We've got our own much smaller adjustments to make under ML - hopefully they will just happen.

I'm a little nervous that we'll give away lots of cheap goals from being caught in possession on the halfway line. Especially if there are injuries and we have to play Spearing or Adam.

Teams that play a high pressure game like United could really find us out this season.

Saying that, even last season, the only teams that came to Anfield and attacked were Chelsea, City and Arsenal. So, the problem might be how we use the ball in the final third. Statistically Swansea were the worst passers of the ball in the final third last season, so hopefully we improve.

I just want a bit of harmony here. I'm pissed at Rodgers and his sh!te not Liverpool and their fans.
Just stop having a go at each other at every opportunity - it's getting tedious.

Well... this thread is about Liverpool.

Nothing against Swansea or their fans; quite the opposite.

"Well... this thread is about Liverpool. "

Sadly true. Can't blame you for commenting just frustrated that our board is swamped with threads about another club and/ or its manager. Haven't we got enough to look forward to? Getting on my ****ing wick to be honest. Hate to say it but a lot of our fans seem to be obsessed.

What has to be said has been said. Let's move on ffs.

With this amount of threads about Liverpool you may as well be United fans <whistle>

Completely understand; don't get why any of you would care what our PR releases are.

Enough happening at Swansea to be excited, not angry about the past.

Yeah ? well explain something to me, why come on here gobbing off and insulting people?

But that's what you do isn't it and it's not the first time you've been told either is it ?

I quote, '' I board hop frequently and know of you ( with as much respect as I can muster ) as a blithering idiot who also board hops and posts generally ignorant comments to infuriate the locals....''

This is about you, '' He's ( you ) talking **** he got called on it, ignorantly still pushes on, his arguments that don't hold up ''

This to you, '' Posting in reply to you always is really ( a waste of time ) you can't tell your elbow from your fanny ''

Nob in Red you and I both know that there's more, lot's more

But to quote you now , '' You can't lecture others on assumptions then assume things yourself ''

But that's all you do isn't it ? Little boy. You also stated on the the liverpool site, about me, that my fellow posters on her think I'm a Cardiff fan?

Oh yeah, name names you little gobshite!

Now do you want to continue this or are you going to do one Mrs. Browns thicker feckin son?
