Cannot say that l am surprised that he wants out, in some ways it's amazing he has stuck it for this long. I wish him well, but he will be a great loss to this side.
If l had one criticism though, it would be about the timing of this announcement. We all suspected it was coming, but ATM it just heaps more pain on tip of pain.
I wish he had held his his counsel until things settle down, if of course they ever do!

I'm going to have a walk up to SJP on Saturday and see if I can get a trial.

Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote says he does not want to quit the club

Newcastle United's battling midfielder confirms there was interest in him in the summer but says he does not want to leave

Cheick Tiote has revealed talk of him quitting Newcastle United was not accurate.

But the Magpies midfielder did confirm that there was interest in him from other clubs over the summer.

Tiote said today: “I saw the quotes that appeared yesterday, but they are not accurate.

“Yes, there was some interest in me over the summer and that can be a bit distracting, but nothing came of it.

“I’m back to full fitness and only thinking about doing my best for the team.”Tiote said he was focused on getting Newcastle out of the bottom three and nothing else.

He said: “We are not in a good position in the league right now and I want to get us up to where we should be.

“I am as committed as I have ever been to Newcastle.”

"Newcastle boss Alan Pardew also played down the suggestion that Tiote is discontented.

"When a player goes to their own country, and that can be Africa, France, Holland, we always seem to get misquoted versions of events, and this is one of those cases,” he said."

Pardew would make a very good KGB lying spy.
