As has been pointed out, this is a thread for jokes.
I found it highly amusing when my energy supplier tells me all my electricity is supplied through renewable sources.......
And then blames rising gas prices for the increase in price. Laugh? I nearly cried.
And when challenging the standing charge for electricity, I pointed out I live about a couple of miles top from the Creyke Beck substation. Possibly a reduction for living more or less next door to it, as opposed to someone living a hundred miles of network away? No. Funny that, innit?

But this bit will make you piss yourself....
The UK government, since 2015, has awarded 60 billion quid in support to renewable energy sources. And it isn't the tooth fairy that left that amount of cash under the chancellors pillow. Any idea where or how that money comes from?

And, dah, dah, boom tish, the punchline. They gave fossil fuel companies 80 billion in the same period.

Just love the light hearted banter on here.

Just the other day I read that Ofgem is to launch an independent investigation into Drax, not all the subsidies or if it is really environmentally friendly, just as to wether the wood sourced from Canada is truly sustainable.

Awwww bless, Ofgem.

As I was unable to to be given anything like the truth, never mind a straight answer to my Standing Charges query, I involved Ofgem. £69 of the annual standing charge is a compensation payable by all existing and new customers to their supplier. This is to make up the shortfall, or losses, incurred by the big boys for taking on as customers those who were previously with the collapsed minnows. Yea,so what? This levy was approved and agreed by, errr, hmmm, yep you got it, Ofgem.
When it may have been prudent of them to check the viability, any business plan, source of funding, of said minnows.

But all is well, Canadian timber is being shipped here on three masted barques so the enviroment is safe from umpteen tons of diesel smoke being dumped daily into it during the crossing.

Enviromentally friendly? It is all, pardon the pun, smoke and mirrors. But in keeping with the levity of this thread, heavens forbid it should be anything but, I amuse myself , chuckle away, while I contemplate the very fact there is someone on this planet whose insanity outreaches mine. The one who claims airlines will be carbon neutral.

I am sure I have posted this before. Professor Brian Cox contemplating is there anybody there. Billions of galaxies, what is needed here on Earth for "life" to form, blah blah dee blah concluded, maybe not exactly, but something like.......

If we are truly alone in the universe, shouldn't we taking better care of our home?

(Yes, we should. But I have no idea how we even begin to achieve this.)
