Restoration of Hull’s Stepney Station on Beverley Road complete
    • Thu 7 December, 2023

    this:

For more than one hundred years Stepney Station connected Hull residents to East Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. The station closed in 1964 but fifty years later, a programme of restoration and repair works has been delivered to breathe new life into this important part of Hull’s heritage.

I bought a new pair of shoes with memory foam insoles.

There is an article about that in Daily Mail. The released documents also show that Alastair Campbell wanted, as part of the peace process, for Rangers and Celtic to play each other in Belfast but in order to bring everyone together playing in each others kits instead of their own.<doh> And some people think a government regulator would be a good idea.<laugh>

Having a PL club in Belfast was discussed before the formation of the league, but as was before the Good Friday Agreement, it was decided that security was an issue, especially if one 'side' adopted the team and increase divisions.

I'd guess that one of Blair's SPADs, or whatever they were called then, read the paper and at the same time read about Wimbledon/plough lane situation and put two and two together and the timing all fitted. Could have worked and Belfast is a great night out.

If you sad or bored enough, as I am, to read political diaries, a huge amount of ****e is proposed all over the spectrum, and thus noted and documented. Whether it will ever happen or not is a whole different ball game.

You’re right there’s all sorts planned/promised which never happens.
Reminded me with the flooding this week (elsewhere) of the test they did on the emergency to your mobile…whatever happened to that then, for example

The Alerts have been set up and the test in April was largely successful, only 7% of people who should have got it didn't and that was mainly due to an issue on the Three network. If you're at risk of being flooded, you should get a message telling to shift all your **** upstairs sharpish, at least that's what I assume it will say.

You would think so wouldn’t you.
…but I don’t believe they’ve ever been used since the test, including the recent floods and the major incident declared for snow weeks ago.

I believe it is live, but can only be used when there's an imminent threat to life, so terrorist attacks, wildfires or severe flooding.
