Trouble is, Cheeky Monkey, we've heard it all about a zillion times. Get fresh or get the label.

I don't fully agree with you there Rickie.

That's the bit I don't agree with. The "club" is its fans, players, reputation, history. The business sits behind all this and is transitory. I don't know how many owners you have had already but there will be sometime in the future when Southampton FC will be owned by someone else - that could be in 25 years time, but it will happen as some point.

The problem with the way "business" is set up is that it is the shareholders and investors who are protected under Company Law. The wider community is not. That's why a disgruntled creditor has to appeal to the courts. That is why the Hershey bars company was able to buy Cadbury's, promise to keep to certain conditions and then immediately renege on those promises - with no comeback whatsoever for the workforce and the community in which the factory was situated.

Being owned by a business is not the best way for any activity which is relied upon by the local community. Football, (and maybe other sports etc) need a different model of set-up. The German model isn't infallible, but it is certainly better than what we have. It is going to have to come, sooner rather than later.

Indeed. Certain things should not be allowed to be "owned" by anyone other than those with a genuine vested interest in both their wellbeing and their performance. You know, things like football clubs, utility providers, transport networks, the NHS etc. Oh, I digress.

So by your own reasoning , Rangers should hand back all the silverware they have won over the years , Southampton should hand back their only credible trophy which they snatched off Manu and practically all the Big Boys should give back all their silverware cos if you havent noticed or heard the majority of football clubs in the UK are running at a huge loss due to the over inflated wages they are paying their players . Thats what chasing the Dream gets you into my friend , but do not delude yourself in thinking that its something that only Pompey are going through . Have a good day my friend .<doh>

And don't you delude yourself that other clubs who remain with their 'means' end up with f*ck all. You lot even owe City money.

Yep we're crap, even with your 10 points deducted you will still end up higher than us.

    But Portsmouth FC are Cheats.

So Chelsea, Man City, United etc are all cheats also?

Use your own reasoning to look at the bigger picture.
