he was the last english manager to win the league.

howard wilkinson is 81.

 

He will remain as that for some time. The nightmare would be if the next English manager to win the League was managing the same club as the last one.

 

No he won't he'll be 82 after a year...

 

So, when he dies, who will be the last English manager to win the title?

Indeed. I am younger than him and won’t see it. I don’t think my two lads in their 40s will either.

 

Only for 5 years was he the last one. Wilkinson has been for 33 years. Don’t care who the next English manager to win it is as long as he isn’t managing the club Wilkinson did.

 

he was for two years from 1985 till his second in 1987 as well. but, yes, nowhere near wilkinson's best.

You and me both, your lads'll see a new generation of managers coming in though. Maybe some of them will be English. I don't particularly yearn for an English manager in the old school style. The european managers have brought a lot to the game, we can learn from them. All imho of course...
