Someone wanted their day in court - that same someone not having the self awareness to know it wasn’t going to go well for them, given that what Mrs Rooney said was in fact true. Actually don’t know whether to feel sorry for Jamie Vardy or be concerned for his lack of judgement in marrying the woman, considering the evidence regarding her character.
I think if she was my wife and had just wasted in excess of £1m I would be livid. Though as you infer, he made his bed and I guess he has to lie on it.
