From an article about Carlisle reaching the Firsr Division 50 years ago. A feat described by Bill Shankly as the greatest achievement in football history. “There were Les O'Neill, Stan Ternent, Ray Train and Graham Winstanley. There was the versatile Chris Balderstone who, two months after that win against Villa was top scoring for Leicestershire in the Benson and Hedges Cup final at Lord's. Two years later, Balderstone was facing down the West Indies pace attack on his Test debut. In between, in September 1975, after moving to Doncaster Rovers, he featured in competitive fixtures in both the County Championship and the Football League on the same day. He was 51 not out after the first day's play against Derbyshire at Chesterfield, drove to Belle Vue to play in a 1-1 draw against Brentford, then back to complete his century the next day (run out 116) and take three for 28 as Leicestershire won by 135 runs and clinched the County Championship title.” Balderstone obviously wasn’t as easily fatigued as some players these days.
Carragher really is a ****ing idiot. ‘ I don’t know what more Nunez could have done there’. As he failed to score from 6 yards out with the only the keeper to beat. How about putting it in the back of the net you deluded tit?
Liverpool could have scored 5 on another day….amazing or lucky saves. As you say….wonderful stuff. Citeh for the title then. Cannot cheer on the arse

Leverkusen have won their first ever Bundesliga.....statistically speaking, there was no more nailed on title win across the big leagues this year than Bayern, so it is objectively really quite funny that Kane has left Spurs to 'win trophies', gone to the one club who more than anyone else were nailed to win trophies and they've ****ed it with 5 games to go. Incredibly spursy thing to do! As for the prem...**** results today, got no love for Liverpool or Arsenal, but seeing Man City win it 4 times in a row is just boring. Leagues need to be competitive to be interesting.
Bayern didnt **** it perse Leverkusen just havent lost a match Theyre playing remarkable and its the beauty of football
And another great thing is Munich has a population of 1.5 million whilst Leverkusen has a population the size of Ipswich.
