Looks like we might have a Scunny have done one thread on here soon, it seems they're deep in doo-doo.
what have you heard? I heard that they are 50 mill in debt - but I dismissed it, I couldn’t see how a low league team could ever get in that much debt. I thought it was BS
They won't be in that much debt, in fact all their debt was written off last year when Swann swapped the debt (£11m) for ownership of the stadium and surrounding land. The problem now, is that they have an ongoing wage commitment, barely any revenue, no stadium (or any assets at all really), an owner that's gone AWAOL and apparently no likelihood of anyone else taking it on.
defo Leeds to go down. I don’t mind Burnley. Honest, Simple, no nonsense northern club. I hope they survive
Government takes next steps towards major reform of English men's football. Key points summarised: Central to the plans will be the establishment of a strong, independent regulator established with statutory backing to deliver financial sustainability throughout the national game. Strengthened owners and directors test, including an ‘integrity test’ to improve corporate governance and protect clubs and their fans from unscrupulous owners. Government commits to giving fans a voice in the running of their clubs with white paper to be published in the summer. Plans follow fan-led review of football governance, led by Tracey Crouch MP. https://www.skysports.com/football/...towards-major-reform-of-english-mens-football
Good to see but I'd rather they weren't competing for a top 6 championship place next season, they'd likely be nailed on whereas Leeds/Burnley less so.
Funny as **** though. It's about the only variety and excitement that boring club's seen in its history.
Like DMD says...funny as ****! And for that alone it's worth it. Don't let logic get in the way here.
I wouldn’t be 100% sure on that. They’ve got some fussy players on big money, will they really be up for the Championship? Can Everton get their wages off their books enough to get a decent squad together? I think the chances are they’ll do well but it also wouldn’t completely surprise me if they implode for a season or two.
Everton could very well follow in Sunderland’s footsteps. That squad must have a morale lower than a snake’s belly; no fighters there. Burnley on the other hand have grit and determination. Aston Villa were in the **** after they got relegated. 20th by October when Di Matteo got the sack. Bruce managed to get them to 13th by the end of the season but they didn’t win for 8 games under Bruce that same season. I’d say Burnley have more about them to come straight back up next season if relegated than Everton.
the top of league one has got a bit crowded. wigan have picked up three points in their last five, with three drawns and two defeats. going into the final game, they have the same goal difference as rotherham +35 and are two points ahead. so they need a win for the title, otherwise rotherham can win and take the title. 3rd placed mk dons can mathematically catch wigan if wigan lose and the goal differences change by 7 in mk dons' favour. unlikely. wigan play at safe shrewsbury but rotherham are at gillingham, who can avoid the drop with a bit of luck.
Interestingly, Wigan with one game to go is on the same points as we won the league with last season.
It's spooky, but on a trip to a Dr Who exhibition, I asked this guy who his database recommended I bet on for promotion, and he was insistent, saying 'Exeter mate' 'Exeter mate'. Last night, he was proven right. Makes you think. please log in to view this image
Don't really care either way for Burnley or Everton to be fair. Leeds going down however, would be amusing.
