So, who else voted for Garreth Roberts?
Often not easy casting these votes, but happy to see him get this deserved recognition.

Me for one, although I must admit I thought he'd lose to votes for more recent players.

mbe for sheila parker, first captain of the england women's football team. likely for her work with children rather than for football. or both. she also played for the famous dick, kerr team, so a link with the further past.

perhaps the mbes will reach another local england women's football captain too.

    We're going to win 4-3!

Morecambe came back from three goals down at the break to seal a thrilling 4-3 victory over fellow League One strugglers Doncaster at the Mazuma Stadium.

Gary McSheffrey's side looked set for their first away win of the season but four second-half goals gave the Shrimps victory.

The visitors enjoyed a dream start with a goal after just seven minutes when Aidan Barlow slammed home the loose ball from close range following a Branden Horton corner.

Midfielder Dan Gardner made it 2-0 after 26 minutes and when Joseph Oluwu added a third, Doncaster looked set for a vital win.

Morecambe's comeback began in the 51st minute when Cole Stockton grabbed his 17th goal of the season, latching onto Anthony O'Connor's knockdown.

The striker pulled another back after 73 minutes when he converted Shane McLaughlin's pass.

Substitute Jon Obika levelled the scores seven minutes from time when he turned in Greg Leigh's shot and victory was secured when Toumani Diagouraga fired home a sensational winner from 25 yards with five minutes remaining.

when orient came here later that season, we beat them 5-1 with a billy whitehurst hat-trick. i believe that was the only time we've put 5 or more past any team in both league games of one season.

    Wolves deserved that.

Comparing Bruno Lage’s post match interview, discussing tactics, with an average Terry offering is like comparing Mozart with Milli Vanilli.

Southampton are set to be taken over by a company backed by Serbian media mogul Dragan Solak, BBC Sport understands.

The company called Sport Republic is buying Chinese businessman Gao Jisheng's 80% stake in the club.

Gao took over the club in August 2017, with Katharina Liebherr, who inherited Saints from her late father Markus in 2010 when they were in League One, retaining 20%.

Saints are 14th in the Premier League and were promoted in 2012.

Solak is chairman and founder of the United Group media company.

    ENTER THE DRAGAN

Southampton have been taken over by a company backed by Serb media mogul Dragan Solak.

The Premier League club confirmed Sport Republic has bought Chinese businessman Gao Jisheng's 80% stake.

Gao took over Southampton in August 2017, with Katharina Liebherr, who inherited the club from her late father Markus in 2010 when they were in League One, retaining 20%.

Liebherr will continue to own her minority stake in the new deal.

Saints are 14th in the Premier League, after being promoted to the top flight in 2012.

Solak is chairman and founder of the United Group media company, while Southampton say Sport Republic is "an investment firm in the sports and entertainment industry".

The club's chief executive Martin Semmens says the deal is the "perfect solution" for them.

"Over the last two years, together with the shareholders of our club, we have searched for the right partner to take the club forward," said Semmens.

"We have found partners with ambition for the future, but with a clear understanding of what Southampton stands for and the direction we must go in now."

Solak says Southampton will be the "cornerstone" of his organisation.

"Southampton has so many of the qualities we have been looking for in a major sports organisation," he added.

"It has a great management team, excellent talent development, talented teams playing attractive football and a dedicated fan base.

"We are delighted to be able to complete this acquisition as a first step towards execution of our investment strategy.

"Southampton will be a cornerstone of the organisation we plan to build."

i didn't work it out either. i had a car with whk in the plate, but i assumed it stood for west hull kid.

i was surprised there were enough players left for the game to end. they were all keen to get off home early, no matter what it took. the shooting was poor.

Tell you what, I'd rather pay to watch that than some of the stuff the Premier League produces.
