Brownie signed Okotcha, Geovanni, King, Boateng, Bullard, - all significantly better and significantly cheaper than some of the crap that Bruce has brought in - it wasn't until the second season that the wheels stated to come off as a result of King being an arse and failure to get a proper replacement - however Jan v H and Altidore were no worse than Diomante and Akpom - for all the nonsense spouted about Brucie, I don't believe he's brought anyone in that only came here because it was him - except Junior of course but that's different because no-one else wanted him
Is it a certainty that we've missed automatic promotion then? I thought that there were still several games to be played.
We need Boro to beat Burnley and Brighton and both of them need to **** up royally in their other games - Brucie ****ed it up going more and more defensive to protect a nil nil scoreline - he must have fell out with the Allams and this is his way of paying them back - I don't believe anyone can be this **** by accident
I think 'someone like' Karl Robinson, not necessarily him will have his finger on what is happening in the lower leagues and non leagues where there are players who 'want it'. That's perhaps what we should be looking at, someone who wants it as much as the players and can do it on limited funds. On another subject I see today we have been linked again with Roofe at Oxford, 25 goals in 46 games from midfield (something like that) BUT, now the likes of Sunderland and Newcastle are also mentioned as showing interest which they never were before.
Is this the same Phil Brown who brought in a crippled Jimmy Bullshit, the same one that had a queue for the naughty step, the same one that ****ed off to horse racing during the run in to our relegation season, with even the senior pro`s refusing to go with him because they know they needed to be on the training pitch. Browny was an okay manager who did well, but he believed his own hype after the start we had in our first season, he became billy big bollox, lost the dressing room after Man City, and was doomed thereafter. Coupled with the laughable signings he made, I for one wouldn`t welcome him back, nice guy that he is.
Don't think I heard about the horse racing, I remember him 'saving' some lady from jumping to her demise from the Humber Bridge allegedly, might have been the same day Bullard and Barmby had their scrap. He was always too much of a loose cannon Brownie though looking back I think I preferred him as a person to Bruce as he seemed fairly straight forward, as a manager they both have their failings
Phil Brown, hallowed be thy name, was similar to Bruce in so far as when things were going well he was fine, but when the results stopped coming he instinctively went defensive and set us up not to lose rather than go for the win. It was heartbreaking to see the early season momentum we had generated being quashed by his ultra-cautious style for the remainder of our games - a policy he maintained during the entirety of our sophomore season. I now believe we need a new manager for the start of next season, regardless of what division we're in. Don't know who, though. Not Gary Monk or Steve McLaren or Tim Sherwood, though. I would love it if Kevin Keegan came out of retirement. Even if he ****ed up, it wouldn't be boring.
Don't forget the pink sweater round the shoulders episode either. The fashion faux pas that damned him forever in the eyes of metrosexuals and flaskers alike.
Haha what a man Brownie was/is. Was nice to see him back at the KC before the Arsenal match the other week
I genuinely haven't got a clue who we should get or be after for the new boss, just hope it's not Gary Megson or some ultra-defensive anti-football merchant
Out of interest, why does anyone think we shouldn't go for Monk or Sherwood? I've seen a few people say that but I don't get it. I think they'd both be bloody brilliant, but we'd struggle to get them here.
