Seabourne is good in the air. He is weakest in the box as he likes to pull shirts. However, I think being the left of the two centre backs is harder as Harding often pushes forward leaving more space to cover and dragging him across.

Yeh, but he doesn't "hoof" it. He almost chips it, lofts it with backspin

right, JDub, how on earth does 'lots of backspin quantify your argument? its still a hoof forward, which is the context in which others are using 'hoof'.

Hoofing forward implies that you are just clearing the ball randomly. If he's accurately placing it on Lambert's head it's a pass, all be it an aerial one.

HE does just hoof it, often I see Lambert having to run to get on the end of the ball, personally don't rate him and he will be out of his depth in the champ.

A hoof is a random kick out of your area with no care for the direction. That's not what Seaborne does. Anyway, I can see people are too stuck in their hatred of Seaborne that they cannot change thier views.

In 'footballing terms' that's a hoof. he doesn't have the vision to play the ball through midfield. He's one of those players that isn't naturally talented, he's worked bloody hard to get where he is.

When I was playing if our centre back went long as much as he does, he'd have been benched.

Yet another blinkered post from you showing your hate for Seaborne. Shame as there are several of us on here that do rate him.
Can't see how you can say that Seaborne will be out of his depth in the Championship when he has never played there. I have read on stats though that he has played 130+ league games, captained a league team to promotion at Wembley & been involved in 3 promotions. So he should be given the chance. Then you go onto say Martin should start alongside Fonte !

How do you think Martin will do this coming from Eastleigh and only playing 4 games in league 1 last season. Adkins has proved all Season that Seaborne is favoured over Martin with his team selections.

It would be stupid to put Martin with his lack of experience in a championship side at this time. This could destroy his confidence as a player. Put him out on loan to get the experience for a year then come back & contest for a place.

So going by that logic, Martin and Jaidi aren't good enough either. They both have a tendency to go long.

In my opinion, based on how he played last year, Martin is ready - however I think Seaborne will be out of his depth, again an opinion and a preditcion

It is, but Dan Seaborne has been deemed to be the "weak kid in class" that some have to pick on for no apparent reason.

Especially considering how I fully expect many views on Seaborne are based on them only seeing him a handful of times in the flesh, when he's been in and out of the team or a sub etc.

But you see we HAVE to have a player that people randomly pick on, bit like Tommy Forecast. I am damn sure only a tiny minority of those who slag him off have ever seen him play.

    All a bit sad IMHO.

Anyway, this Ammar Jemal rumour sounds exactly what we need. A young, strong and physical Centre Back that is very mobile. Shame it probably isn't true.

Bit like the Riise rumour in that it's originated from a local newspaper of the "selling" club. Then again, so did the Guly rumour, which turned out to be true...

I hope it is true though, exactly what we need at CB.

Martin isn't good enough. I've said it all along that he won't be a mainstay in the team. He has no pace, a ****e turn and can't read the game. Your point about Jaidi isn't valid as he looks for the left back nearly all the time, if not there Fonte and then the cm. if nothing is on he goes long. Jaidi at the moment is still our strongest CB after fonte. We seriously need one more as Martin and Seaborne arn't up to the championship.

Yep JDub, I agree looks more unlikely now as no other paper or site has picked it up. But you never know the club do keep things quiet and with Adkins saying theres a possibility of 1/2 players by Saturday you can never write it off. Looking at the youtube vids he looks decent. Dangerous from set-pieces, quick, likes to get forward even as a centre back. Young player with experience in the CL and EL, he sounds like the perfect partner to Fonte. But time will tell and see if this rumour materializes!!

Wouldn't surprise me if we've already signed him, just keeping it quiet. Or yes on the other hand it could be utter rubbish!

See, I'm not sure about Martin. He had Kevin Davies in his pocket all game against Bolton, but he does have a tendency to **** himself and get the ball away with a massive hoof. I think if he was to stake a claim to being Fonte's partner, he's missed the boat as it would be too risky to try and blood him in the Championship.

Both him and Seaborne are unknown quantities in the Championship, sadly I have to side with you and say they probably aren't good enough if we are to back our ambition with player quality.

That's why I'm comforted if we are truly in for Jemal.

Not sure how you can judge a player on only 4 appearances? I know you are a local young lad & obviously favour the local kid over the outsider Seaborne. It's understandable you would like to see Martin do a lot better this season than he did last year. Only a handful of appearances and being shown by the gaffer Seaborne & Jaidi are preferred over you. Surely Adkins team selections have proved to everyone that Martin is nowhere near ready yet, which must be disappointing for you as a fan of Martin. Starts last season in the first team & player stats prove that Martin is low in the pecking order. I understand you must be disappointed by this seeing you rate Martin so highly. It seems others on here also don't rate him yet. He could be a good player in the future but this is my opinion for the future. I hope you are wrong with your prediction "Seaborne will be out of his depth". Lets hope he gets a chance. As a Saints fan we wish all the team a great season especially to all the players that have yet to play in the championship, which are quite a few. Plus any additions, like Jamel Adkins may chose to bring in. The championship looks exciting.
