While the sum of $27b is astounding, a study by the Brown University's Watson Institute for International Studies puts the cost of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars at about $4 trillion. War is not a money making exercise for the US, it's a huge drain on the economy.

That's a short term view and one that isn't looking at the bigger picture. America's investment in the Iraq & Afghan actions is not just about Iraq & Afghanistan and I can assure you that those instigating these land grabs/oil grabs/regime changes, are not feeling the negative effects of any temporary drain on the US economy.

A host of loosely affiliated Islamists wish to establish an Islamic Caliphate from Indonesia to Morroco, where Sharia law will determine every aspect of human life. Fascism, in effect. But you won't recognise this because you're exactly the sort of self loathing tosspot who would have appeased Hitler, and more than likely actively embraced the Soviets. I bet you wear a Che Guevara T-Shirt and have a poster of mass murderer Mao Tse Tung somewhere in your student hovel.

I agree with in that there are some who will make **** loads from this or any war, but while they may drive a great wall of thought that supports the conflicts, US policy is not in their hands alone. With a couple of houses to work their way through, plus the duel major parties, US actions are drawn from a whole host of differing opinions.

The Yanks are alright. They make good films, nice food and they speak English in the main.

They're not as good as Britain mind.

Carter would've been good in The Searchers though, wouldn't he? Standing there naked waving a 12 gauge shotgun at the Commanches.

I'd have a buck on the Commanches, they'd have no problem "getting" Carter.

    Haha.

This **** always makes me chuckle.

Sits at home in Direland and casts his opinion based on Eddie Vee's cheat sheets.

Ok, I reckon you have got approximately...30 minutes (based on her driving) to hurry up with why the Yanks and the Brits are bad, yadda, yadda, yadda, so hurry up...

Read your first post, and I'm afraid to say, it is basically you, as normal.

"Let's blame the Brits and the Yanks"

I mean, how dare we step in and dare stop humans being executed.

That is, of course, a quick summation, time is against me, but basically, that is your beef, always is.
