You cannot say this would be an error of judgement given that the fraud associated with John Moores is clearly a matter of court record and in the public domain, so you can only conclude that our board are ignoring the danger here and are being influenced by personal greed........................<ok>

Investment As Early As Next Month

EPL side Swansea City could receive U.S. investment as early as next month.
EPL side Swansea City Club Dir Huw Cooze said that the club "could receive American investment as early as next month," according to Phil Blanche of WALES ONLINE. The club has "been in talks with American businessmen John Jay Moores and Charles Noell since last autumn with the former owners of the San Diego Padres set to make a significant cash injection in return for a 30 per cent stake in Swansea." Both Swansea and the Supporters' Trust -- which owns 21% of the club -- "have done due diligence on the American pair and negotiations have now entered a critical period." Cooze, the Supporters' Trust representative on the Swansea board, said, "Talks are on-going and there's nothing on the table yet, no offer. But I would imagine they would make that offer and be coming in here in the next month or so" (WALES ONLINE, 2/16). SKY SPORTS reported Swansea is "currently negotiating" to buy its Liberty Stadium ground from the city council and is hoping to increase the 20,800 capacity. There are more than 8,000 people waiting for season tickets and plans "have been approved to expand the capacity to 33,000." Cooze: "We know we're possibly losing a generation by not expanding. We've been in the Premier League for four years and it is likely we're going to be here next season" (SKY SPORTS, 2/16). The BBC reported the supporters' trust "has in the past voiced its concerns about foreign ownership." Cooze: "The Americans and our own shareholders know the Supporters' Trust shares are not for sale. They never will be and they appreciate that, and we will work with them if it (the deal) happens" (BBC, 2/17).

Looks like the board have decided to cash in while the goings good and probably think they`ve earned it so to hell with the club now they done their bit, im allright jack ! and so the vultures can come in and screw as much out of what is a healthy corpse to them at the moment ?
Or maybe they love the swans and are getting on board to splash the cash and not create debt for the swans to go down the swany with ?

Wolves in sheep`s clothing maybe ?

come on give the board some credit ffs. they are trying to do what they think is the best for the club and so far they have never let us down. they will know more about these two guys than any media story out to make money for themselves. .Trust what they are trying to achieve here as they would never put the club at risk.

Share holders who put their own money into the club saved it from extinction; they have, from what I've seen, given their time and efforts freely (more or less) for over a decade.
If they sell their shares in what is considered to be for the advancement of Swansea City they, imo, should keep whatever profit arrises.

I'm nervous about the deal with the Yanks because they are not mega rich by club owner standards, they have a checkered background regarding club ownership, memories of Petty, a natural distrust of proper in general and they are American.
I'm edging towards being in favour because they will bring in business acumen and could provide greater long term security if, as a result of their involvement we end up owning the ground without diluting the team.

    pS DragonPhil-
Love the Prezi, if they bring those ball skills we'll be laughing.

<doh> Now I'm more worried than ever. These look like just the sort of people we should be avoiding at all costs. If 'due diligence' has been done how on earth can this Moores person be given a clean bill of health? He won't be able to sit on the board as the League may not declare him a fit and proper person. More and more I'm hoping this falls through but I'm sad to say greed will win the day. This can only be a bad thing for our Club imo.

I don't think he's been convicted of anything.
I think I've seen something on this board that said the courts agreed he knew nothing about the fraud. <confused>

None are so blind that will not see . Yes I'm sure their paragons of virtue and just love to become part of the family .Have a look at how much debt has been loaded against Man Utd with their American owners so why would these be any different .

Lets not forget what Randy Lerner is doing to Villa a once massive and proud club.

He's sucked the living soul out of that club. In a way I felt sorry for Lambert as he did not worse than expected with his hands tied behind his back. He sold Young, Barry, Milner and Downing all for 20-30 million each and invested peanuts into the squad in return.

Whose not to say these pricks will look to cash in on Fabianski, Gylfi, Ki, Montero etc <yikes>

I dont understand why some fans are overreacting with speculations that they have no idea about and trust the club board members who have done nothing but good for the club......weird or what..<ok>

No not to me it's not , it's showing concern about the future of the Club, the reason we have been stable and successful is because of the very thing which is now being diluted with the addition of these American shysters but I'm sure you'll tell me differently .

I am sure people were saying the same thing about Petty years ago. We have every right to be suspicious as fans of the club. Some don't follow blindly just because someone says it is fine, just because they haven't got things wrong in the past doesn't mean they cant make errors. I hope the get this right. I am not convinced at the moment.

Lets get real here..No fan will know diddly squat about anything to do with the two Americans other than they are very successful businessmen that our club has come to the conclusion that they are the right investors for the club. All the speculation is hot air and irrelevant at the end of the day as the board makes the decisions. If they are happy then that all that counts as you and me are not in the equation and certainly dont know the facts about anything.

So knowing diddly squat includes you in that then. So you like the rest of us are speculating. The board have been superb up to now, but everyone makes mistakes, lets hope they don't do it with this decision.
