I had a younger brother who jumped on that bandwagon. It was The Fridge and all that hullabaloo which sucked him in. One of my brothers brought me a Vikings t-shirt with Favre on the back. He seemed genuinely miffed when I said "I haven't followed this for over a decade. Who is he and why isn't it a Redskins t-shirt?"

Brett was the man back in those days.

Perry was quite a character of course.

Bunch of tarts with their shoulder pads, thigh pads, arm pads and helmets on. Put them up against an average team of rugby union players running at them and they'd **** themselves. <ok>

Think rugby league players would be a bit more scary.

It's been stickied for a couple of days now and I think the people that want to follow it know where it's at, so I'm going to let it go now and they can keep it at the top of the page by posting regurally or following you on your forum.

Think your under rating them slightly. A group of NFL linemen or linebackers would happily mix it with a rugby front and back row, and would do pretty well for the firs 30 seconds. After that their wind would be shot.

NFL players aren't afraid of collision. The reason they wear all the padding is because the types of collision you get in NFL are different from, and more severe than, those in rugby. That's not the reason I can't respect the game. It's the fact that they have to stop to rest every 8 - 25 seconds (I'm not making that up) which makes it a very second rate sport.

That and the roughly 300 substitutions that take place in the course of the average game.
