Perhaps they are overly preachy and tiresome and if proven to be true this would be regarded as a war crime, however, if it does turn out to have happened it would stand out because it was not normal behaviour from the US troops, the difference with the SS was that this would be regarded as perfectly normal and thousands of incidents just as bad and and at times far worse were perpetrated by the SS and some Wermacht units. In fact the Soviet army were not far away from the level of barbarity of the SS. I'm not making excuses for the US. I just feel that comparisons with the SS are ill judged and unfair.
